Review summary

Although intense, it was a beautiful cruise with a rich port experience. Celebrity does its best to always make sure that each cruiser enjoys himself. Bravo!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Because we had a three hour delay in Chicago, we boarded moments before the drill. Embarkation was easy with no lines!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We had anytime dining. We never waited too long to enter the restaurant. The food was generally good but the only great meal was the last chic night when both lobster and beef Wellington were served. Because of the itinerary with only one sea day and multiple early excursions, we only had breakfast in the main dining room once. It was a pleasant experience. The buffet experience was typical with several choices and the hunting for seats. We did not have an alternative dining experience on this cruise.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Again, because of the full schedule of ports and only one sea day, we did not participate in many activities. We used the hot tubs twice and enjoyed that one pool area was adult-based only. We enjoyed dancing in various venues.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The Other Guys were fantastic, ala Jersey Boys. Anna and Vlad’s gymnast show was very good. One production show of three was good, while we thought the other two were were not age appropriate for the cruise crowd of this journey.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Most staff were very pleasant and able. However, we had very little contact with our cabin steward, and although our cabin was kept clean, we only had a fleeting glance of him upon embarking. We had no card with his name, nor pen or paper to write a note asking for particular service. We needed hand soap and could not communicate this with him. Another issue was ice which we wanted, but he only gave it to us during the evening service, while we would have preferred it during the morning so we could have cold water upon our return from our excursions. Graeme, the Celebrity club host, was FANTASTIC. He made sure we were well-served. He was professional yet friendly. He hugged us good-bye like a good friend.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The Constellation, although older, was immaculate and well-designed. It was traditional and like an old friend.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Good placement.

Ship tip

Take time to rest on such an intense cruise. It is ok to do just a little.

Ports of call

Venice, Italy

5 out of 5
Nostalgic. We did the evening gondola ride which was romantic and beautiful, complete with moonlight, ringing bells, and music. The second day after taking the ship’s easy shuttle for $15 each, we toured St. Marks on our own and had a drink on the square at the same outdoor cafe we had a drink thirty years before. Lovely, and the sail away from the port was beyond words.

Kotor, Montenegro

5 out of 5
We fell in love with Montenegro. We did a ship’s excursion that gave us a walking tout of Kotor, but then we did the drive over the mountains enduring several hairpin turns to its beautiful Riviera-like coast. Fabulous lunch on the seaside and shopping.

Messina, Sicily

5 out of 5
We enjoyed Sicily and the ship’s excursion, a tour of Messina. A highlight was the clock tower with all of its actions and music! Unforgettable.

Valletta, Malta

5 out of 5
We did a ship tour, first touring Mdina, the old area, and then Valletta. We enjoyed the second part of the tour more than the first. Valletta was beautiful. It’s cathedral and art were fantastic.

Corfu, Greece

4 out of 5
We had been to Corfu before so we opted to take the Hop-On Hop-Off bus. Although ok, we would probably be better off simply walking to Old Port area and looking around. We got off the bus there and walked back to the ship, an easy one.

Dubrovnik, Croatia

5 out of 5
Beautiful city. We were last in Dubrovnik after the war when we took a tour. This time we took the ship’s shuttle for $25 each and then walked the wall. Phew! We made it, but my husband commented that it would have been easier fifteen years ago. No doubt.

Naples, Italy

5 out of 5
We did the ship’s tour to Sorrento. Beautiful views to get to the city. Beautiful resort.

Split, Croatia

5 out of 5
Split Highlights tour was interesting.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We embarked at the time we were told, our luggage was ably handled, and we were sped to the airport with efficiency.
