Review summary
The staff are without exception, excellent, the ship is in a good state of repair and a nice experience, however the costs of extras are too high, a bottle of water in the minibar approx $6, yes drinks packages are good but if you don’t take one you are likely to be left with a heavy bill, if you want to treat yourself to a little luxury and maybe have a massage be prepared to pay between £100 and £200. excursions are very expensive, private arrangements are much more reasonable. There is a very strong ‘them and us’ feel as ‘guests’ are categorised and if you are big budget Spender the ‘privileges make others feel inferior, class system is outdated and not really what we expect from the U.K. but it is a very ‘American experience’ on board. The food is excellent, however, my wife is vegetarian and the options on the normal menu are VERY limited, (1 vegetarian option out of approx 10 meal choices), however a word with the maitre d resulted in a special meal being prepared each evening, but there really should be no need for that and they could not do enough to accommodate her, but should she need to make an issue in this day and age? Overall a great cruise experience but be wise and plan your options for ports of call and be prepared to be a second class citizen if not a frequent cruiser with the line. ( those comments are not aimed at the general staff who treat all equally, more a policy thing). Personally I prefer the option to tip who I want rather than a hefty (approx) $25 a day charge addedEmbarkation
