Review summary

Being our first Celebrity Cruise we had an expectation that this was going to be somewhat akin to Princess. After a short and sweet 5 days that ended up being somewhat true. The Celebrity Beyond is an amazing ship, at times in command of the world famous Captain Kate McCue which we were lucky to meet. The ship is definitely an elevated experience, however it seems that the Edge class is trying to appeal to a different crowd than prior classes, which is not a bad thing of course, but you have been a mix of very modern entertainment venues and shows, mixed with more classic type activities and clientele. Nevertheless I think there's a bit for everyone on board. Food was fantastic all over and so was the service. We had the classic beverage package and it was just enough for us casual drinkers. We definitely loved certain venues like Eden, the main theatre, and the pool deck. Maybe it also helped that our ship was likely not at capacity, nothing felt packed or had to wait around much to have assistance. The rooms were adequate in size, but we loved the bathroom. The infinite Veranda was an interesting experience but we ended up liking it given the weather was not super hot. One thing I can say is that even though the ship just turned 2 years old, they maintain it flawlessly and feels brand new still. I can happily take another cruise on board Celebrity Beyond in the future.

Embarkation

We arrived arpund 2pm and the terminal was empty! We had to board with our bags but was very streamline.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We were very pleased with the food throughout the ship. As our first celebrity cruise we stuck to the MDR and all 4 MDRs were overall great, but our favorites were Cosmopolitand and Cyprus for both food and their service! The OceanView buffet was excellent and varied as well, loved the openeness feel of it too.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
It all depends on your tastes. Being a Premium cruiseline activities are more refined and skewed to an adult crowd. Not to say there aren't fun times and parties, but noticeably less of what you'd expect on its more family brand Royal. Though I'd still wish there were more "activities" to participate in rather than just a speaking seminar, a lesson or so.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
I was amazed by the entertainment onboard! The production shows were all stellar and the theatre was just amazing with its technological applications. Eden was an awkward venue to watch a show due to its design but they make great use of the space and immerse one in the shows as they act around you.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
No complaints. Everyone we interacted was friendly and helpful. From wait staff, room attendant, or Guest Services personnel.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
I've been on other newer ships where ive found them to be confusing to explore, even as a seasoned cruiser, but the Edge class was not. I lovee the openness of the Lido deck and the general flow of the ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
We knew we were in an obstructed verandah but we were fine with this on a shorter cruise. At first we thought the cabin was a bit narrow, but we accustomed. The bathroom however is excellent. The infinite Veranda aspect can easily be a hit or miss. Because the weather during our trip wasn't super humid it was very nice to put it down while at sea, even if the AC all went out. But we can see how it may not be ideal for every situation.
