Review summary

An enjoyable cruise on a lovely ship. But something was seriously wrong with their ability to get food out of the kitchen and onto the tables.

Embarkation

Quick and well organized. We’d missed doing the health questionnaire and he agent whisked us right through it

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
This was my 61st cruise and the pacing of the MDR service was the worst ever. The menu options were more limited than in the past. Food quality was excellent. Eden speciality restaurant mean was excellent. Lunch at the Garden Grill was fun and the food good, but there’s no shade. Food in the buffet was typical. Nice seating outside in the back.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We enjoyed the trivia in The Club. it was very low key with no sign of the usual trivia sharks. If you’re elite or higher in the loyalty program, the evens were very nice

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Theater is small. Entire second level is reserved for suite guests. Go early if you want a decent seat. The shows are ‘different’. Read the descriptions.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone works hard, is pleasant, and helpful

Ship Quality

I like the Edge class, but didn’t feel Apex lived up to the uniqueness of its older sister. Same layout, the art isn’t as interactive and cool. Everything is clean and well-maintained

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Clean, spacious, quiet location I’m not a fan of the infinite balcony although it gives the room more useable space, a great view and lots of light. It’s a window, not a balcony

Ship tip

Eden offers a great inside space to watch sail aways

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

Well managed port

Key West, Florida

5 out of 5
Easy to walk to many attractions, the Truman little Whitehouse, the Hemingway house, Mel Fisher museum and all the bars and restaurants.

Belize City, Belize

5 out of 5
Nice port area, but take an excursion. Cave tubing is unique, the Mayan ruins are some of the best and not as sun-baked at Tulum. Be patient with the tenders

Cozumel, Mexico

3 out of 5
It can get crowded in the port area.

George Town, Grand Cayman

3 out of 5
The island is flat and feels kind of like Florida.

Disembarkation

By the time we finished breakfast in the MDR our number was called
