If I could give this... by momcruiser5

Ship: Carnival Vista

If I could give this ship a thousand stars, I would!! We LOVED the Vista! We cruised with our longtime friends who were first time cruisers and it was their first vacation ever in their 25 years of married life & away from 5 kids! We were in cabin 7263 and it was a great location. We were right by the stairs and hardly had any noise. We were also right above the smoking area on deck 5 but did not smell it or have extra noise. Our balcony was wonderfully quiet & relaxing. The ship has so many places where you can be outside. Our cabin steward, I Nengah, was great! We didn’t see him hardly at all but like a little minion he magically cleaned & prepared our room each day. Deck 5 goes all the way around the ship and was our favorite place on the ship. We loved hanging out at the Red Frog Pub, (ask for Peter and tip him for his upcoming wedding!) playing games, sipping on drinks, (mango madness!!) and being outside. Our friends went to happy hour & karaoke there in the afternoons. We also loved being at the front of the ship where there was hardly anyone. They also had a great breakfast & lunch selection with very few people at the back of deck 5 in the ocean plaza. The captain even took his breakfast there. While there were about 4600 total people on board, it never felt crowded nor did we wait long in lines. We didn’t do a lot of shows (4 teens at home & we were tired!) but really enjoyed the three comedians (PG version) we saw and the final lip sinc battle. The food was pretty good and we loved our wait staff in the MDR. I recommend early dining if you’re 40 and above because it just sticks on the stomach after too long. 😉. Even the lido buffet was good. Jiji’s lasagna at lunch was the best! Gelato is served from 12-1 each sea day on lido by the buffet. We loved the In Demand movies in our room and our internet was great in the room. We went to the IMAX, did the skyride twice, (we went before lunch on sea day and then the afternoon on port day) the ropes course, & water slides. We did have FTTF (out of Galveston) and I recommend getting that. Disembarking & Embarkation went fast & very smoothly. Just follow the rules & be patient. I hope to sail the Vista again!

This was my second time... by carolejonescjj

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Vista

This was my second time on the Vista and we had another amazing time. It was a cruise for my whole family: our 6 kids, their spouses, and our two grandchildren. We stayed in a Family Harbor cabin and really enjoyed the Family Harbor lounge. Our only complaint is that we wished it was open past 9:00pm because we were often wanting to play games together and hang out there after the evening show. The service was always great and we were well taken care of. The house band playing in the Ocean Plaza was amazing, as was Matt the cruise director.

Spacious ship with contemporary a... by purplfreak

Ship: Carnival Vista

Spacious ship with contemporary a design. Best to walk and not waste your vacation time waiting on an elevator that will likely never come. Vista lost a set of elevators in design, yet gained 1500 extra pax. Food is American Table which is okay, but not very diverse. MDR service is slow, but staff is attentive and accommodating. Sadly, our cabin steward was not as on point as others. All in all a great ship with lots to offer. Will book a Vista Class again.

Very enjoyable cruise other than the buffet. Cruise director was “the bomb”. He and his crew were fantastic and very sociable.

Sailed on the Feb 3,... by wlandenberger

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Vista

Sailed on the Feb 3, 2019 cruise. The cruise is actually a 4.7 but you can't rate it that way. Vista is a big ship for sure. Had one of the Havana Cabana cabins #5206. Overall another successful Carnival cruise which is why we keep sailing in this line. Pros. -Embarkation very smooth. Arrive at 11:38, on board by 12:05. Did not have faster to the fun. -MDR food was vey good execpt for one night. Service however was slow. We were at a table for 2 and there was a large table of 12 that got most of the attention. -lido food was surprisingly good, best I have had on Carnival and I am not usually a lido food fan. -Guys burgers was a disappointment compared to other Carnival ships I have been on. The taste was just off. -The Italian eatery was outstanding in everyway. Excellent food. -JiJi kitchen was horrible. No flavor at all, we didn't even finish it and ended up going to the Sea food shack. -Seafood Shack was great, worth the $6 upcharge. Great shrimp and clams. -Shake Spot, get the island delight shake, it is outstanding. -Havana bar had great drinks and the nightly Cuban band was the best on the ship. -Havana area is private during the day but I don't think we would do a Cabana again. The patio lounge and chair is so low to the ground you might as well be sitting on the deck, hard to get up from. Some noise issues but not bad. -Cruise Director Matt. The best I have ever had on any cruise ship on either Carnival or RCCL. -Nightly shows were outstanding. Much better than on the Sunshine last year. -Comedy shows were also excellent. Cons -Comedy club is to small for this size ship. If you did not get there 30 minutes you would likely have to stand if you could get in at all. -Elevators. Every review that had complained about this are being truthful. Sometimes had to wait 10 minutes for a car. Often a car would not even stop on you floor but go past to another floor. -The Atrim. This is the most underwhelming atrim I have seen on a cruise ship. No wow factor at all. -Adult area is hard to get to on Deck 15 as only one Elevator goes there. Because we were Havana guests we did not use this much. -Ocean plaza seating is a joke. Some one at Carnival must think that all guest are 110 lbs and have a 30 inch waist the chairs are so narrow. -Disembarkation was not organized well, very long lines. Not Carnivals. fault but it did not help that we got the customs agent that had to question every person in detail. For every one that cleared in our line, 5-6 would clear on the lines on either side of us. Shore tours -Not well organized. Got to the liquid lounge at 7:45 for an 8am departure as we were instructed to do. Got off the ship to a tender at 10:30am. Not sure what the issue was. Then waited another 45 minutes on shore for the tour bus. -Did the Top Ten of Belize. Terrible tour, 4 hours of complete boredom, run down bus. The tour guide liked to hear herself talk. At the last stop and everyone wanting to get back to the ship she insists on taking 15 minutes to tell us about the Amish on the island since there were some of that faith in a pickup truck next to us in the parking lot. Only when she was finished could the bus move. -Priates, Monkeys and Birds on Rotan. Great tour but be careful, there is far more walking here than the tour description indicates. The korean buses they use on these tours are really cramped, no leg room and poor A/C. Overall another successful Carnival Cruise. Vista is not my favorite Carnival ship, that honor continues to go to the Carnival Pride, but I preferred it to the Sunshine or the Glory. The crew was very happy and went out of their way to help you. Our cabin steward wad outstanding, our MDR staff was good but we have had much better on the Pride, the Dream, and the Liberty. But they were better than on the Sunshine and far better than on the Glory. Matt is outstanding as the cruise director and freely interfaced with everyone. Our next cruise is in 2.5 months on the Ecstasy, hoping it will also be good too.

This was my first cruise... by WendyLeann

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Vista

This was my first cruise so I can’t compare this ship to others, but I will say that the casino is tiny. Our t.v. In cabin quit working, but after calling desk services twice, the issue was resolved. The safe in our cabin also quit working. Every time we entered our PIN number, it gave us an error code. After three or four calls made for this to be fixed, it finally was (about 2.5 hours later). Also, who has a Muster Station in the casino? We did! Most ships have casino on 5th deck. Not Vista. It’s on the 4th. The buffet was not great! The free pizza at the very back of the ship was way better!! Most importantly, I accidentally forgot one of my prescriptions in my cabin and exited the ship without it. No luck in getting it back so far! Suggestions?! Our housekeeper, Eva, was wonderful and prompt in getting us what we needed/ordered. One last thing....the elevators are AWFUL! We were on the 11th deck, and most of the time there were only two of the eight or ten (can’t remember exactly how many elevators per deck) elevators working. EVERY ELEVATOR on the ship is SUPER SLOW! If you plan to be on a high deck, be prepared to walk the stairs!! We had a group of eight adults, and I can tell you that NONE OF US will book a cruise on Carnival Vista! The ONLY reason for two stars is because of Eva!!!

Great Caribbean Cruise by cliffgene

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I really enjoyed the cruise and would certainly do it again. The ships crew were very helpful and always ready to answer any questions. Anuk, our room steward was great, Wonder Boy, and Matt, the cruise director, was very helpful and kept you entertained. I believe the next cruise I take will be shorter days. Seven days were too long at sea. Overall, I enjoyed every minute on board. I had family and a friend with me.

Not What I Expected by CruiseLuver70

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Expected much more from Vista but it seems the golden age of cruising is a thing of the past. They publish dress standards for the dining rooms but standards are never enforced. People come in wearing whatever they want no matter how dirty, old, or inappropriate. I imagine that the staff has been told not to say anything as it might upset the passenger. Entertainment is third rate and the main production area on this ship is a design failure. Would be hard pressed to make another cruise with Carnival on this ship.
