Very disappointed by MuddsII

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I am glad that you have listened to the smokers who pay for drinks and most likely gamble while spending their money and you have designated comfortable seating areas.

The food was awful.  It seemed to me like a lot of it is being recycled.  The fries always look dark and brown.  I think you changed distributors because my grilled chicken was like cardboard.  Waiters and waitresses were great but the food was of poor quality and there were many complaints that some had to wait as long as two hours for their food.  Since Pizza has become the late night food it was always perfect.  Because the food quality on this cruise was so poor I mostly ate that.

Since I am a gambler the casino hosts and staff were remarkable and friendly.  My best time was in there.

And my room was tight for a balcony room but the Cloud 9 spa privileges that was included helped me get over the size and the uncomfortable beds.

Great Time by gregbaylock22

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Had a blast on the trip itself. Only a few complaints. One was on the island tour of Aruba the passengers were given a time to be back but never was on time and caused the rest of the tour to be late and the one placed I wanted to see we had to do a drive by and not take the everlasting picture I wanted so was not happy at all. The other complaint was at the Embassy Suites in Miami International I drove over 20 hours to get to the hotel and the hotel was not nice at all. They gave me a room of someone elses and then gave me another room. But then a painter was doing  touch up painting and had no signs or warnings and my 6 year old daughter leaned against the wall waiting on me to get the room sorted and got it all on her clothes. The hotel offered dry cleaning but they put a hole in my daughters outfit  trying to grt the paint out and all they said was we tried. Unacceptable.  Other than all that craziness had a great time on the actual trip. Totally recommend this trip. Already planning but not leaving out of Miami.

We were very pleased with the Carnival Vista and its staff by Cruiser15781721

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We had not been on a Carnival Cruise in years and were pleasantly surprised by everything. The food was outstanding and the entertainment was wonderful. Our Room was larger than we expected and the staff was very attentive. The pools were always clean, and the staff was always helpful.

The Guys Hambergers. The ship was not user friendly. The food was only average. To many smoking areas near the main pool. The ship was to broken-up,with very little appeal.

Spring Break on the Vista by Cruiser26259661

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Western

After reading some negative reviews of the Vista, I was a little apprehensive, especially since we were cruising during the busiest time of the year, Spring Break.  Future passengers, ignore all the bad reviews!  The Vista was fantastic.  The ship is so large that it didn't seem overly crowded anywhere.  The lines were not long even though there were 4,800 passengers aboard.

Our room and room steward were fantastic.  We had a balcony cabin with 4 in it and my children, 8 and 12 loved the bunk bed.  There seemed to be more room in this cabin then in our previous cruise suite as their beds were a couch and the bunk on top where in our previous suite the sofa bed was left open the whole cruise which took up most of the cabin.

The food was great.  We ate in the Steakhouse and Italian restaurant and anytime dining.  The longest we had to wait for anytime dining was 1/2 hour and this was on the first elegant night when they serve lobster and prime rib.

The Sports Deck was fantastic and my kids spent most of their time there.  We also did trivia contests, played Clue, went to the Hasbro Game Show and other activities.  The shows were great.  The Liquid Lounge, as other reviews noted, is not set up well, but we were always able to find seats where we could see great.

The ports were beautiful and we did private excursions in each one which were also wonderful.

We can't wait to go again!

Our new favorite way to vacation. by carnfam

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Western

It is hard to choose a favorite part. We loved it all and really have no complaints. The ship is beautiful and amazingly huge. We loved the variety of choices for food and entertainment. We were treated so well, we felt like royalty. We did not have small children on the trip but will tell our 5 adult kids about the fantastic programs available for the children. We hope to do a family cruise in the future.

Fun trip with some definite downsides by turnerfam4060

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The trip was very good.  The room was nice, the ship was newer, and the kinks have mostly been worked out.

Positives:

Lots of family activities available

Anytime seating for dinner required little to no wait

Fun daily activities

Great 4D motion theater

IMAX was a great addition

Negatives:

The nightly show left something to be desired

The ship layout required walking through the smoky casino

Casino staff was rude

The kids club closes at odd times, making it difficult for the adults to have an afternoon to themselves.

Additional expenses abounded, everything seemed to cost extra!

Friendly staff by missy51708

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I had a blast. the staff was very friendly. We has some of the best bar tenders ever. Melissa, Samer, Siti and Trayana were the best they knew us by name and they knew what we wanted to drink as soon as we sat down. They were very busy all the time but they made sure that are drinks were always full. Octavio did an amazing job at making sure are room was clean and ready for us when we wanted to go to bed and he always greeted us when we walked by him.

Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I would highly recommend this cruise, everything was great ! From staff to entertainment to the food, I wouldn't change a thing. Excursions offered by Carnival are awesome. Would highly recommend  the mud buggy excursion in Ocho Rios, you will get dirty ! Plenty of places to eat on this ship , Guys Burger Joint is great for pool side dining. Would definitely cruise this ship again ! IMAX theater and Thrillmax theater is  also highly recommended.

Great time as always. Not a huge fan of the ship layout by jbuczko1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Ship is nice, new and has all the works. The layout im not a fan of. Very tight everywhere. No big open areas. This causes it to be congested during busy times in busy areas. Still had a blast though.

Carnival Vista Cruise out of Miami by sonnywool

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Overall, it was good, but not great.   Public bathrooms on the ship not well marked and in inconvenient places.  Casino was small for a ship that size and had only a small number of waiters and bartenders.   Took long time to get anything.  They had the wrong card for my wife and I which was blue for the first sailing and should have been red for my wife and gold for me.  As a result, you get to the back of the line and that includes embarkation and disembarkation.    They eventually corrected, but only after a long wait in customer service line.  They need to add more customer service people the first couple and last couple days of the cruise.

Vista Review by Cruiser96124356

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The dining room reservations were not convenient for group seatings.  Having to check in every day prior to dinner to seat a group of 26+ should not be required.  Other Carnival ships seat the group together at the same location not moving from one area to another every night.  That is not fair to the dining staff.

Fun cruise by allansflowers

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I enjoyed the cruise for the most part. It was almost impossible to find a seat near either pool or on the serenity deck. People got seats early and stayed all day. They saved seats with towels. I found the food to be OK and service in the dining rooms slow for breakfast. Bar service in the dining rooms was almost nonexistant after your first drink. The bars were fun and lively and the bar staff great. Our cabin steward was fabulous. The elevators were incredibly slow. The ratio of staff to guests was low in my opinion. IMAX theater was awesome. Dive in movies fun.

Best Cruise ship food by charroemer

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Vista / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The main experience that sticks out for the Vista is the food.  Most everything tasted so delicious, but we mostly loved the homemade ice cream that was featured everyday by the sweet buffet.  Our 2 main disappointments were that the Lido deck is split up into 2 areas, making the swimming areas quite crowded, and that we were not allowed to enjoy the pool area in the Havana area until after 7. By that time, it was cool and dark, and we lost interest.  All in all, we had an amazing time and enjoyed the ship.
