Review summary

Nice ship but a bit too large for us, we prefer a bit smaller, not as crowded. Enjoyed the cruise. Would skip the Steakhouse the next time, not worth $70.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very different type of boarding from Miami. Fast boarding and Sail and Sign card in cabin mailbox. Carnival is trying a new type of elevator system, which we did not like. On the main elevator upon boarding you must touch a pad and check which deck you want and take a certain elevator that only will go to that certain floor, but if that elevator is full you have to start over and change elevators. This is fine when elevators are not crowded but first thing on the ship it does not work!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
This is a large ship, therefore, they have a lot of seating in buffet area. We did the Steakhouse and were not happy with our dinner. My husband said his oysters were "slimy" and my steak was pretty tough. They did not bring out steaks to view and choose like had been done on other Carnival ships. I do wish Carnival would change the menu in the main dining rooms. We have done nine cruises and are getting tired of the same items. They have a lot of other dining areas, we did enjoy the Pig and Anchor, it was very good. We did not try the Seafood Shack, which I had intended to do. Overall the food was good

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We do not usually do a lot of the onboard activities so I can't evaluate.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Most of the shows on this ship we had already seen. We did enjoy the juggler in the Liquid Lounge. We went to the comedians. Vista did it differently than other Carnival ships. They had two comedians that were there for about four nights, then the last three nights they brought in two more for the last nights. Enjoyed the first ones, not so much the next two. They had good performers in the Atrium before dinner and other venues across the ship.

Children's Programs

We are older and have no children with us.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room steward started off with just either am or pm service (not both) after asking for both, he was right on spot. Very good service. Dining room staff was good and very pleasant.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Everything very clean and they were constantly cleaning. As far as layout, the Liquid Lounge ( main theater) is rather small and very flat, difficult to see as there is no slant on the flooring.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Normal balcony cabin with a refrigerator. Safe conveniently located as shelves and drawers. Very clean and well designed.

Ship tip

Be aware when you board the ship and try the main elevator to go to anywhere on the ship, the elevators will be a mess. Poorly designed at main elevator. we did not care for those, other elevators are normal. Be aware also your Sail and Sign card will be at your cabin.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

5 out of 5
We love Miami but just sailed from there did not do any excursions

Grand Turk Island Did not visit port

It was damaged in hurricane, so we did not go there

La Romana, Dominican Republic

2 out of 5
We were not impressed with this port. not that much to see when you get off ship unless you do an excursion. Had friends that took the little train that toured the city and all they saw was guns, they thought it was dirty..Not a good port

Oranjestad, Aruba

5 out of 5
We took an excursion (not from carnival) but from from the dock. We have found they are much cheaper and the same excursion, as close as we can tell, more that half the price. Very nice excursion.

Willemstad, Curacao

5 out of 5
We like this port. We did an excursion ( not from Carnival) an excursion we got from the dock. A nice big a/c bus, nice driver and good explanations. Very happy with this excursion and again more than half the Carnival price.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
The best disembarkation we have ever had in nine cruises. We had Faster to the Fun and were off the ship and on our way in half an hour. It was great.

I feel the same way; seem to have more fun on the smaller ships!
