Review summary

I don't know if we'd ever try carnival again. No apologies for anything at all. I feel they owed us some recompense for the lack of the port but we haven't heard a word. We had bad experiences with carnivals paper thin walls and people out of control from too much party. In a previous sailing We also witnessed a death on board below our balcony in a hot tub. It was terrible, they keep trying to resuscitate the man to no avail. Nothing said to us about that either. We were hurried off that ship at disembarkation. It ruined our whole experiance of that cruise. But with a new ship and long time between sailings we thought we'd try again. The only thing I can say, you are now educated as to sailing this ship.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Excellent fast and easy. Since we only brought carry on and back packs. Our first time at Miami pert. Very organized compared to other ports. Parking was the most expensive we've ever spent anywhere. Other persons on board had lost their luggage lost on embarkation with RX in it for three days. A flyer was sent to every room to help find the missing bag. The baggage people were screaming at us outside the port to leave the baggage with them. We were convinced they were not a part of carnival.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food was superb. But they nickel and dime you for everything else. A cappuccino was $3 for example. Free on all other cruises. We did manage to enjoy mixed drinks by ordering alcohol bottles to our room at $75 and up per bottles that would normally cost $30 and higher. Plus not aware your allowed to bring twelve packs of soda on board, use as mixers. Along with one bottle wine per person.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We enjoyed the music groups playing threw the ship almost always! Excellent activities for all ages

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Better shows than any ship we've sailed in a long time. This we feel was the best feature.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Most people were excellent. However some acted annoyed at any small request. Our room steward seemed overworked. We hardly saw her threw most of our trip. The new rules they only clean your room once a day and if you miss the time period you asked them am or pm that it. No cleaning done. Garbage and towel issues in that case.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Great job on both these accounts. Giving thought to relaxing areas not to be too overcrowded. The children were hardly seen since they were joyfully playing in their awesome water park. Cudos for your new design keep up good work.

Cabin / Stateroom

2 out of 5
Too small for a balcony cabin compared to other ships. Walls paper thin. Had to wear ear plugs every night. The club downstairs entertainment until 1 am was as if it were in the room with us. Warning, make sure your cabin you pick is in a quiet area, you will hear everything.

Ship tip

This is a very nice ship as long as you know what to expect and ask for. Hopefully these tips can help, you

Ports of call

Grand Turk Island Did not visit port

Hurricane damaged, did not offer to take us anywhere else instead. No apologies or making adjustments. Nothing offered.

La Romana, Dominican Republic

1 out of 5
This should not even be a port to visit. We took carnival train and had to be escorted by police the entire ride right be our ship. Frightening to think just taking a walk off the ship by ourselves could have been like.

Oranjestad, Aruba

5 out of 5
Beautiful port excellent bus excursion.

Willemstad, Curacao

5 out of 5
Best port, excellent bus excursion. I would come back here to visit.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Organized fast and easy. We only brought carry ons and back packs so no long waits. Shocked at the total eight day cost to park. Again nickel and dime you to death.

This guy is a troll. Did not do his homework prior to sailing!! You could give some people a free cruise and they would still complain. Please stay away!!!!!

"In a previous sailing We also witnessed"....sounds like your focus should be on your CURRENT cruise. You chose to take a second Carnival trip. Maybe a "land vacation" might fit you needs. Holiday Inns offer FREE parking.

Thanks much for this review. Going on this cruise in December they have not canceled Grand Turk yet for my cruise. I will need to get more detailed in my research of La Ramona so really thanks !!

some people just not partiers, Carnival is called the fun ship. Now if you want quite you need to go on the Seniors cruise. I tell people dont book doing hurricane season.

People die everyday, how is it Carnival's fault. Cruise lines refund your port charges when you don't visit that port😑

We had a great time on the Vista in January! We cruised the Breeze in October of 13 & 14 & both time were rerouted due to medical emergencies. We missed an excursion to Xplor, that's not Carnivals fault. Lots of things can happen when you are on a floating hotel w/upwards if 4500 people! And yes, sadly, we are hurried off because just like TNTgreen said there is another group of passengers waiting to board.

You are not owned compensation besides port fees if you skip a port; that is in your Cruise Contract. It states "Itineraries are subject to Change". Yes you are hurried off the ship and out of your rooms by 8am reason...there is another 5000 passengers waiting to start their cruise.

Good news for you is there are other cruise lines out there. Hope you find one that is a better fit.
