Review summary

Nice ship, good staff. It will be nice if some information is printed and placed in the rooms about the ports of call. For example the docking in Civitaveccia was in a commercial port and the walk or shuttle is quite a distance from the ship to the port exit and then more time either waiting for a shuttle or walking to the train sation and the train is more than an hr to Rome. It would've been helpful to know these simple facts so those like us not doing excursions know what to expect. Some facts about each port and city would've been very helpful. Same with Napoli as Pisa and Flourence as quite a distance from the port. If I knew ahead of time that the docks are so far from the destination I may have chosen a diiferent itenirary.

Sorry, but this is the cause for your three star rating? You traveled to the Mediterranean and never looked at a map? You never did even rudimentary research to see what was involved? Weren't you even just abit curious to know where you were going? If there was no information about the ports, in your stateroom, I'd be amazed. Every cruise gives you a booklet on the shore excursions, which contains info on the ports. Typically, every cruise director gives a presentation on the upcoming port, in person and on the cabin TV. You would almost have to purposely avoid this information.

Between the internet and Rick Steve's book there is absolutely no excuse for not knowing about these simple facts. Were you also surprised to find out that the people in Italy spoke Italian or that they used funny looking money?

I agree with aschreyer, it is important to research every port online, google is magocal, and also youtube is a great tool to research every port you dont need a travel agent

No Need for a Travel Agent. Google would have done it as well. Must have been their first vacation. Not prepared at all and then blaming it on the cruiseline. Funny People.....

Oh no I am going there next year. Will just have to book a tour so we get back to the ship on time.

It helps to use a travel agent who can inform you of these things in advance, do some research of your own ahead ad well. alot of people don't realize the port is so far outside of Rome.
