Review summary

All in all we had a fantastic time due to the itinerary. We would have NEVER been able to go to all these places and have these precious experiences without Carnival.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
The food was atrocious. We lost weight on vacation, which is a plus. Avoid the buffet if at all possible. Order six appetizers each night at dinner because the entrees are horrible. The dining staff was wonderful. The entertainment during dinner was amazing.

Service and Staff

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Ship layout was confusing. Decor was outdated, but clean. Beware of levels three and four which are not through-levels.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had an ocean view stateroom on level one and this turned out to be perfect to exit the ship as the gangway was on level zero. We had the best room steward. Our room was exceptionally cleaned 2+ times per day.

Ports of call

Bridgetown, Barbados

Barbados - We chose not to book anything through Carnival and instead booked private surfing lessons with Surfing Barbados. It was amazing and easy. It was also a short cab ride from port - expect the cab drivers at port to be rude. After our lessons, we lounged at Dover Beach - absolutely gorgeous. We got two chairs and an umbrella for $10. It was easy to catch a cab back to the boat.
Don't Miss: Dover Beach

Basseterre, St. Kitts

We had no expectations upon arriving to St. Kitts. We walked off the boat and booked an island tour with Calypso Tours. This was surprisingly fun and they dropped us off at a beach and picked us up later... for only $30 each! Such a good deal.
Don't Miss: Tour the Whole Island

Roseau, Dominica

5 out of 5
Due to the negative comments of previous guests regarding Dominica, we were not sure what to expect here. We booked River Tubing & Jaco Falls through Carnival. Expect a long and windy bus ride through the rain forest to get to the river and back. Also expect to have the best time of your life river tubing. This was by far the best excursion we did. Jaco Falls was gorgeous as well. We wanted to walk around at port but felt intimidated by the locals. This is a good island to book an active adventure that doesn't involve the beach.
Don't Miss: River Tubing

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

We took a cab to Dawn Beach. Spent $20 for two chairs and an umbrella and enjoyed the best snorkeling of the entire trip. We then took a cab to Maho Beach by the airport and had a fantastic time watching the planes fly overhead.
Don't Miss: Dawn Beach and Maho Beach

Castries, St. Lucia

1 out of 5
This was by far the most disappointing experience we had. We booked the Catamaran to the Pitons through Carnival. It was four hours of misery. They stopped once for 20 minutes to let us swim.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

5 out of 5
We took a booked Trunk Beach Snorkel on St. John through Carnival. It was nice. There was about a 45 minute boat ride to St. John. St. John was THE most gorgeous place we went to. Prior to embarking on our excursion, we walked into town at Charlotte-St. Amalie and did some shopping. It was very nice. St. Thomas is easily accessible for Americans and you do not feel like you're going to be a victim of crime.
Don't Miss: St. John

Pros: Itinerary; Clean Stateroom

Cons: Food
