Carnival Venezia was a beautiful ship with gorgeous decor.
Embarkation

Pretty quick and easy. Our arrival appointment was at 11am. We arrived on time and were on the ship by noon.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
MDR food was excellent for dinner and sea day brunch. Guy’s Burgers, Pizzeria del Capitano, Tomodoro, Chopsticks, and Carnival Deli were all good for lunch. La Strada Grill food was not good and the only bad experience for us. We only ate at the buffet for breakfast on port days and it was okay, not much variety.
Canal Grande Restaurant

Absolutely beautiful! Service and food were excellent!
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Not enough seating at Serenity or Lido. Not as many deck parties or live music on Lido as other ships. Not enough activities to do on sea days when it’s cold and rainy.
Lido Pool
2 out of 5
Too small and not enough seating. Not a fan of the closed roof Lido.
Serenity Adult-Only Retreat
2 out of 5
Beautiful but not enough seating, so we didn’t get to spend much time here. Chair saving is also a problem.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Shows were okay. Views of the stage from the balcony were poor. Could be more DJs on Lido throughout the day.
Teatro Rosso
3 out of 5
Shows were okay. Very beautiful but views of the stage from the balcony were terrible.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Service and staff were great for the most part, but we could tell they were tired and overworked.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The ship is exceptionally decorated. The layout of the Lido is not the best. There is not enough seating or views from the balcony on deck 11. Some areas and furniture could be updated.
Cabin / Stateroom

Ship tip
Personally, I would not choose to sail out of NYC in the winter again. The weather was chilly, windy and rainy most days, even in the Bahamas.
Not much to do at or within walking distance of the port. We took the shared shuttle for $14pp round trip. Initially, they tried to lie to us about the cost and not give correct change. They dropped us off at Pirate’s Cove which charges entry, additional charges for chairs and umbrellas, drinks, activities and anything else you want to do. It is also crowded. We walked around to Taino Beach which is free but there are a lot of pushy venders and no facilities.
It was freezing cold, but the sights of the city, Statue of Liberty and bridge were beautiful. NYC would be much better to sail out of when the weather is nicer.
Best port of the cruise hands down. We walked down the pier and went to Paradise Beach which is free. We could see lots of fish and sharks off of the pier on the way to the beach. Beach and water were gorgeous. We rode around on the free tram to see a little bit of the island.
We walked to Junkanoo Beach which took about 15-20 min. We went down a little farther where it wasn’t as crowded. There were a lot of pushy venders on the way there. The beach was really rocky. Great place to snorkel.
