Review summary

We have sailed Carnival in the past and this was a disappointment. The ship is beautiful and the staff was great, but it was missing the Carnival feel. Service was slow and in some areas non existent. I am hoping this will be solved in the future since we understand it is a "new" ship, currently it is below expectations. It is even causing us to reassess cruise lines in the future.

Embarkation

2 out of 5
It was very disorganized. The lines were a free for all entering from multiple parts of the terminal. People were cutting in front of staff and not a work was ever said. It was also late. We were better off waiting until later to board the boat. We had an early time and didn't get on until the free for all, over an hour later.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Dining Rooms were OK, Buffett was poor, Specialty Restaurants were very good and other random resteraunts were very good.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Plenty to do

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Very good.

Children's Programs

3 out of 5
It was OK. My daughter didn't like as much as in the past. Apparently, there were several unruly children. The staff focused on them. When we cruised a couple years ago, we couldn't get my daughter out she loved it so much. She didn't want to return after the 2nd time this cruis.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Great staff, but WAY understaffed. We have seen posts where Carnival is saying it was not understaff. It is a lie. SEVERAL staff members told us they were 300 short due to VISA issues. It was obvious. We have sailed many times and have never seen a cruise where it was the same staff always working and few of them. The ship was overbooked with almost 5,000 guests and understaffed for even the normal 4,000 guest cruise.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Only knock is pool areas and lack of the "center space" where most activities would happen. The Lido area and rear pool were too small to hold any amount of people.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Very good room. No complaints.

Ship tip

Book specialty restaurants, be patient and understand it is turning into the "bargain" cruise line.

Disembarkation

Luckily, we had priority debarkation. We still got off the boat over an hour later than told. Guests we traveled with did not have priority debarkation. They did not get off the boat until 2 hours later.
