Review summary

Carnival is an okay cruise but is not interested in customer service. Park West Gallery has a top notch staff and is eager to please the customer. The rest of the departments should learn from Park West staff.

Embarkation

Very efficient

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Main dining food was very good Buffett okay

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Fitness center - instructor does not show up for class and did not provide notification to guests (could have posted a note or had a sub) Another time the instructor was late with no apology and did not add time to the end of the class even though it was clear there was no conflict No staff in attendance while the fitness center is in use (in the morning)- what if someone suddenly became ill or got hurt?

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Shows were fun.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Did not use- this needs a n/a option.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Ship was clean Design of the ship was a little confusing, it would be helpful if there were signs with arrows pointing in the direction of a particular place Washington dining entrance ->

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Steward did his job

Ship tip

Basically it is an okay cruise but don’t expect much personal help. I tried to book a future cruise at the future cruise desk and the staff member said look it up on the computer.

Ports of call

Cozumel, Mexico

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

I did not do an excursion. Locals know when cruise ships arrive. There is a constant flow of people approaching and trying to sell you something, which is to be expected.

Park West Staff are sales people trying to get you to buy their merchandise. Of course they are going to go above and beyond when they are trying to make a sale.

Interesting. We sailed Valor 4 times in 2017, and will be sailing her again in January. The staff has always been very attentive, friendly, and helpful. PW staff is eager to please because they want you to spend big bucks with them. Our experience with PW, having purchased 3 works from them in the last 2 years, is if they don't have the artist you want, they try to talk you into something/someone else. They always push Thomas Kincaid, and that's not our style.
