Review summary

This cruise right up on top of our cruises so far. We had so much fun, relaxed so much, met so many great people, ate so much amazing food, and did not worry about a single thing for five days and nights. We have already booked another cruise with carnival for next year. Life is good…

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We had purchased faster to the fun so we got on the ship pretty quick. We went straight to our rooms and our keys were in the mailbox. Our cabin steward, Yuli, met us right away and she was wonderful. She said she would keep us in ice in our room, and she did for the entire cruise. Our room was perfect, 9229, and our balcony was just what the doctor ordered.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We ate at the buffet, the Mongolian wok, The Pizza pirate, and room service. It was a very good, and since we are both gluten-free, we were amazed at everything we could find to eat. Even though we always use the stairs and very rarely use the elevator, I still gained 3 pounds. I love Carnival’s food. I dream of Carnival’s food.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Our favorite experience on the ship was going to the show “America rocks.” It was so fun if you get a chance to see this, the energy level is so high and the music is amazing. My sister enjoyed it so much she went back to see it a second time. We went to all the raffles on the ship every day, we gambled every day, and we enjoyed the slot tournament.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We loved the show at the beautiful theater, America Rocks. A Lot.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room steradian, Yuli, Was always very busy, and she works very hard, but she still had time to talk to us and tell us a little about her life. We enjoyed her so much and she was always smiling as was the rest of the staff. Our interactions with staff all over the ship were nothing but excellent.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
How do they keep the ship so clean? How did they pick up after all these people 24 hours a day? I am amazed at the cleanliness of the bathrooms, the hallways, and the Lido deck.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our Cabin was perfect. There were so many drawers and cabinets and storage space that we didn’t even use half of it. After we emptied our suitcases they fit perfectly underneath the bed. I could not believe that we could get ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox on our TV. This cruise ships have come along way in the last five years. Our balcony was perfect and the glass was clean. Our shower was much bigger than some showers we have had in the past on other ships.

Ship tip

Go see the shows! Don’t put too much food on your plate and be one of those people that leave food wasted on your table. If you like something you can always go back for more.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

5 out of 5
We love Galveston. We ate at Salsas and it was delicious. We stayed at the harbor house and met the clerk, Dee. She was a hoot. We will stay here again. The ocean was, as the ocean is, perfect.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
We went jewelry shopping. This port started us on our “Alex and Ani” obsession. We enjoyed the retailers and stayed pretty close to the ship.

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

5 out of 5
We just shopped at the port. We Were surprised how much It had grown since the last time we were here. The people are very friendly and we had a wonderful time browsing all of the stores.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We had purchased faster to the fun so we got off the ship pretty quickly. From our balcony we could see my car at the Harbor House. So once we got off we went to get our luggage and then we just walked the couple blocks to the harbor house. This Disembarkation ever.

"Life is good" when we are able to cruise about this great world and see all the wonders it, and it's people present us. So nice!

We're on the Valor during hurricane Harvey and got 8 more extended days waiting for Galveston to reopen. Food was fantastic as always with Carnival, but we really didn't get the personal treatment we normally get. No welcome aboard party the first evening. Cruise director was a hoot. Poop... is what he said at the conclusion of his announcements.
