Review summary

The best part of the cruise was the food. The buffets were always full and the dining room was fun.  The dining room staff made it a fun experience. The food was great and our waiter "Bobby" was fantastic!

I was surprised how unorganized it was when it came to boarding, excursions and debarkation.  It took over 2 hours just to get on the ship! The lines were long and the staff said the computers were down/slow which caused the delay. To leave for excursions was also hectic.  They made you sit in an auditorium for over an hour waiting for your group to be called to leave the ship.  One day I was in a 7:30 group and at 8:45 they started taking the 8:30 group. This was very frustrating so I left and just went out of line to get off the ship. Thankfully my group did this or we could have missed our excursion. The bus was waiting for us and needed to leave.  This messed up the whole day and we didn't get to do our entire excursion (which I already paid for). We even got back to the ship late but luckily they didn't leave us. Always book your excursions through the cruise line that ensures they wont leave you behind. This happened on every excursion and I am unsure why they couldn't get people off the boat in a timely manner. Debarkation at Galveston was a NIGHTMARE! There was fog which delayed us and Carnival had no control over the weather.  They told people to get out of their staterooms and sit on decks 9 & 5. There was not room for everyone on those decks. My group did end up waiting it out in our stateroom because there was no room to even stand anywhere. We were being yelled out to clear the halls and stairways but had no where to go. We were supposed to debark at 8:00 and didn't get off the ship until 2:00. It was a very long wait and they quit serving food and drinks after breakfast. They really need to make a better plan for when there are delays and need to train the crew in crowd control. The crew didn't try to get people in line and calm people down. It was scary at times with people yelling and pushing to get through.

I would not recommend a Carnival Cruise. I missed excursions because they could not be timely and it was stressful being trapped on board with people yelling. Next time I will stay on land and make sure I don't waste money on excursions that I don't get to fully experience.

The cabin was clean but my bedding was stained. I thought it was dirty but it was just stained and worn out. Buy new sheets!

Ship tip

The Lido deck was always fun for groups of all ages.
