Review summary

1) There was a lot of food but it didn't taste that great; most people just left it on their plates once they tried it.

2) The daily brochure with the activities stated that there was eat at your own time at the Lincoln. Nevertheless, when we showed up they did not want to seat us. When they finally gave us a seat, they made it seem like they did us a favor and that they would not do it again, even though next days brochure said it could be done; we never went back.

3) First day I am taking a nap, housekeeping starts knocking, I wake up to open up and they wan't to chat me up. I understand he didn't know I was sleeping but once I made it clear, he should have stopped wanting to talk and leave me alone.

4) Two nights before last we put a do not disturb/snoozing sign. In the afternoon we get a card under our door saying that housekeeping had passed by, and that they would not disturb us. Then at 10:00pm cruise security knocks on the door in a cop-like manner saying that they had to checkup on us because we had not wanted housekeeping to service the room.

5) 97 % of guests are american. There is not a single white, black or hispanic employee working on the ship. They like american money but don't employ a single american person.

6) Some staff lacks dominion of English language.

This is my first cruise, so I do not know if this is normal.

I hope that as a First time cruiser, the events do not turn you off cruising. It is a great way to holiday. I see your points, but as you become a more frequent cruiser none on the points will really matter... Except point 4... The security came back to your stateroom because the porter had not been in the room during the day and you noted that you did not want to be disturbed. I can almost guarantee you that there have been occasions where the porter has gone back to the room only to find a serious problem, or a deceased passenger. So on that point I will give them 5 stars and hope they look out for all their passengers the way they looked out for you.

By the way, On you next cruise, be sure to contact a real good travel agent. They can help you more than you think/

In my opinion. Your one of those people who love to complain About every little thing instead of brushing it off and enjoying yourself. That's just my opinion though.

The staff members were not the only ones aboard who lacked a clear grasp of the English language.

It sounds like you showed up to the any time dining room. You need to pre register for that dining option. It is on the sheet for informational purposes.

If this is your first cruise let it be your cruising is not for you

so far I've taken 24 cruises and never seen an American working in those capacities that I just spoke of

Is this your first cruise

serialcruiser1    8 years ago

I've seen Americans on board teaching classes or giving seminars but I've never seen them working as Porters or bartenders excetera excetera

jalockw    8 years ago

^only true when not in international waters. You do see Americans on the ships, they are paid better than other employees but the pay can still be lower than federal minimum wage

serialcruiser1    8 years ago

regarding American employees the labor laws are much different and they would never be permitted to work that long without overtime pay excetera excetera thereby causing your cruise costs to double or triple that's why you don't see Americans working aboard ship

jalockw    8 years ago

Yes it's normal. They pay very low wages so not many Americans would do the work.
