Review summary

Overall, this was a nice cruise but we thought the food was disappointing.  Both in the dining room and buffet.  We didn't like the buffet at all.  Not very appetizing looking, however, when we were looking for a snack (dessert) it always seemed that the buffet was closed.  Our only option was to wait on a long line (45 mins) to get pizza.  Only one person working the counter at 10:30pm.  In the dining room, the breakfast food choices were quite fancy, hence, just stick with what everyone enjoys.  Dinner was always a nice dining experience as Luis from Peru was our waiter and was impeccable in his service and knowing what we liked.  But the food wasn't that good and that's not his fault.

We are in room seven 7434 on the October 24 cruise, I was just wondering if the TVs are flat screen in the cabin?

glomarrone, it's not that I didn't like or dislike Port Canaveral.  We live in NY and "seeing" Port Canaveral was to get on the boat and get off.  I've been on many cruises and as far as how the terminal was, it was fine.  But I've been in nicer terminals with working air conditioning on all levels.  Disembarking was awful -- they kept telling us that someone pulled a fire alarm in the terminal and they were waiting for the FD to clear it.  This was for over an hour and a half that hundreds and hundreds of people, if not thousands, were jamming the stairways, walkways and elevator banks waiting to leave the ship.  If you google Carnival Valor and you look at what happened on our cruise (arriving back to PC on 8/15) you will see the real reason for the long delay.  There wasn't a fire alarm issue after all, but far worse.  It could of been handled a little differently both by Port Canaveral, and Carnival. But like I said, it was a nice cruise.  The Ports were wonderful and the water breathtaking.  The people so polite and our excursions, which I booked on our own, were outstanding.  We had a great time --- just the food on this one was not so great.  Something great that Carnival offers is express baggage.  For $25 extra per person, they will handle your bags with the airlines.  Once packed and picked up by Carnival staff late in the evening before disembarkation, you don't see them again until you arrive at your final destination.  No extra charges if the bag is overweight (which ours were) but you do have to pay your baggage fees.  So getting off the ship and right on our transfer bus to the airport was a breeze.  And all our bags made it to our final destination!  I hope this lengthy answer helps with your questioning of Port Canaveral/and or Carnival.

Just curious about why you didn't like Port Canaveral.
