Review summary

Overall, we enjoyed the cruise in spite of the following issues.  We experienced A/C limitations and a night of "sewage odor" from the A/C vent.  The sewage smell issue was resolved; however, we did have to stay in another cabin for the night.  Did you know that Carnival has a policy that cabin temperature should be between 70 and 74 degrees (F)?  Don't expect a really cool room!  Cabin steward and dining staff were very good.  Customer Services staff very poor, so I hope you have no problems! Food was average at best.  Hope you like cheeseburgers and hot dogs!  Entertainment was above average.  The casino was nice, if you could find a seat at the tables or at a slot machine.  No question this was the most crowded casino I have ever seen on a cruise.  Lots of smoking as well.

Ship Quality

Mentioned the A/C previously. The ship needs to be really cleaned and painted in certain areas

Cabin / Stateroom

Bad simply because of poor air conditioning and a horrible night w/ a sewage smell coming from the A/C vent. Room could use some renovation.

Ship tip

Very nice workout area w/ large window in steam and sauna to enjoy the ocean view! Be sure to really study your ship's map as some areas are difficult to access.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

Grand Turk Island

5 out of 5
Grand Turk has little to offer. It is very quaint but enjoyable simply due to our tour guide Tracy. If you can get Tracy take the island tour!

San Juan, Puerto Rico

3 out of 5
Port is close to Old Town so don't spend the money on a city tour. You can catch the Old Fort and Old town by walking.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

3 out of 5
Unless you are wanting to buy jewelry or fake handbags there is no need to go downtown. Take a beach tour instead!

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

3 out of 5
Same as St. Thomas. Lots of jewelry stores and street vendors.

You don't have to walk to the fort as there is a free tram that stops near the dock.  It will take you all around San Juan stopping at the main sights. It was good to read that despite some problems, you enjoyed your cruise.
