It started out very disappointed with the boarding but became ok during the cruise and disappointed me with the disembarkation. Can’t blame the staff because they tried but I blame Carnival. The ports of call was excellent
Embarkation
1 out of 5
If I could give no star I would. The worst embarkation experience I ever had and I have been on several cruises.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The dining room was excellent but the buffet was limited and pretty much the same everyday
Onboard Activities
1 out of 5
Pools were overcrowded and children just running wild everyday.
Entertainment
1 out of 5
The shows were always at the wrong times because of our late dining. The service in the dining room was slow and so we weren’t able to make any comedy or theater shows. We try seeing a couple but the Venue was small and overcrowded.
Children's Programs
3 out of 5
My granddaughter first cruise and my first time using the service. She had a great time.
Service and Staff
2 out of 5
Service was very underwhelming. Buffet tables were not clear fast enough because of massive amount of people, they just couldn’t keep up. The dining room staff was slow on service for dinner. Room service staff was great and so I tip them extra. Sandwich station was the worst. Average wait time for a sandwich was at least 40 mins online. He was so slow.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
The layout was chop up comparing to when it was Triumph. Loved the Red Frog Pub💕 and the staff there.
Cabin / Stateroom
2 out of 5
The cabin size was ok and my husband loved the size of the television. The balcony deck was old and it showed. They did a great job updating inside the cabin but definitely not the bathroom and balcony. The 3rd person sleeper was uncomfortable because it was meant for a very small child. The beds were old and extremely uncomfortable 🥵. I hurt my back sleeping on the lumpy mattress. The cabin was dusty and the bathroom had an odor the whole time I was there.
Ship tip
Be prepared to be disappointed because they took a small ship to host a certain amount of people and made it overcrowded. There is a line for everything and the wait is long. They added more cabins and cruisers but did not add more service staff. The staff did their best to keep up but Carnival did a disservice to their guests by adding more cabins and not enough staff. You can see and feel the difference and most guest thought that.
Disembarkation was a nightmare just as embarkation. This was a absolute disaster from beginning to the end. I waited at least 4 hours online to get on and 3 hours to get off. Will not sail from NY again because of poor organization.
Try cruising when school is in session and you should have a better experience. There will usually be fewer people on board so many of the issues you mentioned - embarkation / debarkation, crowded venues, children running everywhere, shouldn’t be as big of an issue. As far as missing shows due to your dining time, they usually have 2 shows each night that are timed to accommodate early and late dining times. You can also try to get Anytime Dining or go to the Buffet.
We are doing a B2B on the Sunrise in August leaving out of our home port of NYC. I’ve cruised with carnival 23 times and have never had an experience like what you described. I Truly hope it was a fluke and we don’t have that same experience. Thank you for your review.
