four days at sea is too long by Tat9961400

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Hawaii

The buffet was always the same, dirty dishes and trays were left for a while before being picked up. Entertainment was mostly terrible. Dinning room service for breakfast and lunch was very slow.

Non-Splendor Cruise by NonSplendor

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Hawaii

Cruise was disorganized and entertainment was unsatisfactory. One evenning, an entertainer did not get on board the ship for the evenning show. The daily entertainment schedule could not be relied on since many things were changed during the day. Inexperienced crew tendered us from the ship to a port. In the process of transferring us, they banged into the dock walls and the ship's hull. We paid extra for the steakhouse and several of us became ill that evenning and next day. As a result, we missed the first formal night. This is the first cruise that we went on that did not have any religious services. The crew claimed ignorance in not answering many of our questions regarding the ship and cruise. Many used the excuse that this was their first time aboard this ship.

Interesting by onemorecriuse

The days at sea were very nice. Weather wasn't bad except for one windy day. We joined in on the crafts each sea day but they ran out of crafts by the second day. Also with the scrap booking. The shows at night were hit and miss with several shows postponed until a later date. We had three great singing and dancing shows towards the end of the cruise.

cold trip to Hawaii by stevie

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Hawaii

-15 day cruise was okay, the food was good, the service was great, great people -If your taking little ones as we did 5 year old and 2.5 year old, wouldn't recommend in January, too cold. The bad weather in our at sea days ruined our plans to play in the water park, pools and slide. -The ship was very limited for any fun activities for our children, (wanted nothing to do with camp carnival unless we where there with them, was not allowed) -It would have been nice if they had a big indoor play area for the children and if they could have shown cartoons in our state room. -Any helpful tips i can pass along, be weary of many at day seas, especially with little ones. Research the weather getting there, the temp. crossing the pacific to Hawaii ruined it for us.

first time take a cruise. very nice experience. excellent food; good on board party; nice Mexico cities: Cabo San Lucas and Pverto Vallarta. If can introduce more information about Cabo and Vallarta before arrive there, that will be better.

Very Good Cruise by Bobbi

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Mexico

Balcony cabins were very nice, clean and spacious. Large bathrooms for a cruise ship. Buffet food was okay. Dining food was much better. Entertainment was very good some nights and not so good other nights (very disappointed last night of show as they played very seductive and raunchy music videos with children in attendance). Crew members were always nice and very accommodating. Overall, the ship was beautiful and easy to find your way around.

GREAT CRUISEBUT TOO MANY CHILDREN. by RonaldElizabethBuck

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Mexico

We enjoyed our accommodations and service was excellent. Food was delicious in dining room, not so much the buffet eateries. The entertainment was wonderful with great music and dancing area. The evening music shows were the best we have experienced on all our cruises. Negative side for us was there was too many children and teenagers tearing about. Pool impossible. Should be an adult pool somewhere. We found the decor very tacky and cheap looking. Nothing classy about this ship. Very disapointing as the last Carnival ship was so elegant.

Nice Cruise by Joshs1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)

This ship is hard to navigate at first, after a week we still went up the wrong elevators at times, having then to go back down or up father to get through to the other side. Could be that we are used to Royal's openness of public areas, we really like that. Other wise, the staff was great, food was good, and all the employees on the ship really work hard to give you a good vacation. I don't think I would sail on this ship again.

The service was outstanding from everyone. the only negative was the buffet onboard. The selection was skimpy and the food was often cold.

A very nice cruise by CarlS63478905

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Mexico

The ship was fairly well laid out. The state rooms were quite comfortable. The main theater was very nice, and the comedy club was well laid out-- although a bit small. (We had some very good entertainers aboard ship). On the downside, the casino area reaked with tobacco smoke (Unfortunately that was where the captain's reception was held.) Also, some of the floors a board ship were quite slippery (I almost fell a couple of times), and there was almost a total lack of handrails along the various walkways which certainly were needed the last day when the ship encounted very rough seas and strong winds.

Pleasant but not perfect by Stacym11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Mexico

This was the 4th Carnival cruise I have taken. The ship was larger than any of the other Carnival class ships that I have stayed on. I highly recommend the spa rooms. These rooms are on the higher floors(10,11) of the ship. They are decorated nicely and have little foot traffic outside. There is a \"secret\" staircase to the spa above if you stay on deck 10. The spa room comes with access to the Thalosso spa (hot pool with dead sea salts) and tile sauna areas. Other guests had to pay $270/week/couple to use the spa areas. The food at the b'fast buffet was terrible! Scrambled eggs that tasted like powdered eggs next to baked beans for b'fast. Room service menu was limited to cold items. Lunch and dinner were better. The rotissere on deck 10 was consistent and never crowded. The Mongoloian grill had a 30-45 min line. I highly recommend Your Time dining. Make sure to get there early or there will be a long wait. The bottomless bubbles drink card was a good value if you are a soda drinker. Bring a large plastic cup with lid to carry your beverage around ship. Never had a hard time finding an open lounge chair. The casino was small, but a fun distraction. Be ready for them to take your picture at every turn. Wait until the last day at sea to buy stuff from the ship store for the best deals. Be prepared for lines everywhere you go from getting on to getting off the ship. Had a good time but not great.

Good cruise by Barbara79573082

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Mexico

Easy to maneuver. They need to pay more attention to individual rooms as room next to ours was constantly smoking marijuana. Lots of kids on ship and they let some stay in adult pool area. Seems the crew is afraid to confront anyone about rules which ruins it for others. If Carnival has to get cheap and get rid of bands at least the DJ's should play different styles of music. They played music no one danced to, mostly no one ever heard before and I'm familiar with 20's to current. And no one seemed to be enjoying. Lido deck was used to enjoy sun and fun but you had to leave periodically to get away from the constant overly loud music.

A wonderful cruise by MaryD75153033

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)

Very nice. We were on deck 8 below the free pizza and dining area and it was very noisy even late at night when we were trying to sleep. The crew was great and service very good. Would travel with Carnival again but not below the dining area.

Bad buffet ahoy! by GaryS91334988

Cabin and cabin staff wonderful, but finding a bar staff on deck or lounge was like needle in haystack. Buffet was terrible, makes Hometown seem like luxury. Breakfast especially bad.
