This was not my first Alaskan cruise and maybe that was the problem because the weather on my first one was better. But you also don't sail as far because it is round trip from Seattle. I think for a first time Alaskan cruiser you would want to do the inside passage one way so you have more time in port. And maybe also a smaller ship.

Ship experiences
Food and Dining

Food was hit or miss except Guys and pizza were always good. Desserts were usually not good except for the soft serve! Excellent service in main dining room
Onboard Activities

Got a spa pass but the hot tub there wasn't hot and the hot loungers were often cold or too hot. Not worth it for the whole cruise. Great massages tho.
Entertainment

Comedy was great

Perfect for one, would have been for two also. Room steward was fabulous
Ship tip
It is an older ship. Few doors have handicap buttons for opening.
YOu have to do the shore excursion and you sign up for this on the Seattle day because there is not port you dock in. You go on the smaller ship from the cruise ship. Only way to get up close to the glaciers. If you don't do a glacier tour somewhere else then do this one.
Way too much time in this port and not enough in the next 2. Did the zipline and it was fun and not scary but a lot of waiting for a short thrill. Did lots of hiking. Too much time to shop and items are more expensive here. Might have gone on an excursion if I had understood this.
My seaplane trip over glaciers was cancelled. They said only 2 trips since the 4th of july have gone out. That's how cloudy and rainy it was. I wanted to go to a local quilt store and was not disappointed in the extra time.
7:30 to 12:30 is too short in this beautiful town. Took the trolley tour but the fog in the windows and rain made it hard to see out. Maybe the duck tour would have been better. Fun town to walk around in, tour Dollys house on creek street. Another quilt store that was fabulous. HUGE LONG line to get back on the boat and not covering at all so you stood in the rain for a long time.
Thanks for your review. Try cruising in May or June for better weather. A one-way cruise between Vancouver and Alaska, or vice versa, will give you more time in the ports and usually an extra port or glacier day, than the roundtrip cruises from Seattle.
