Review summary

This was our first cruise ever and we really enjoyed our experience. Would have liked less promotional activities from the shops and would have enjoyed more entertainment stuff. Really didn't care for being solicited the entire trip while on the ship and in each port. Want more stuff to do like shows, activities like zip line, bigger water park area, etc. Dancing at the night club.

Embarkation

Bought the FTTF option so got expedited through the process and was in my room before noon.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Main Dinning and Steak house was great food and service. However buffets were not that good they served same options everyday little to no variety. My wife now hates scrambled eggs.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Went to few parties like sail away, 80s party, Farwell Party. Attended 3 comedy shows, played slots in casino, karaoke once, And 1 show musical. And Big Bang Theory Trivia contest.

Entertainment

Children's Programs

N/a didn't have children on cruise.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Michael our steward for room 6230 was always very pleasant and personable. Went out of his way to say hello and see if there is anything we needed. In the main dining room "Golden Peral" our wait staff was always so tentative to us and called us by name like old friends. (James, Kadek, and Ayu we were table 403) They always took very good care of us would love to have them again.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Mostly very clean the staff worked hard to keep up the ship despite some passengers best efforts to create messes. Only issue is the areas around pool that towels were left behind a lot and took a while for staff to collect and to keep area free of water which made for slick floors.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Actually from all the videos and descriptions about how tiny the interior cabins are and the lack of a window outside was depressing. Myself and my wife actually loved our interior cabin it was actually very roomy, didn't mind the no window as we could sleep if we wanted to as if it was night time. Granted this was our first trip so think on our next trip we might try a balcony room but have no complaints our about our cabin on this trip. We did however have drain issue with shower but our steward got it taken care of right away and no more issue.

Ship tip

Come with patience as you have to wait typically a while to get on the elevators and at most of the food stations.

Ports of call

Long Beach (Los Angeles), California

Thought the port was well designed overall but would recommend a fast way to get from lobby of the dome to the boarding ram like an escalator or forcing passenger to walk up those long ramp to only have to walk across the long gain way to get on the ship. Also would suggest to have baggage collected at the entry to the dome over the parking garage.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Port was nice would be better if ship could dock over having to use water taxi to get to shore. Would offer prefer debarkation to FTTF, Platinum/Diamond members since one group paid extra for this privilege and others earned this benefit at all ports of call. We did the Arch Excursion which was fun except for the shopping part people visiting a foreign country don't want to go to a local indoor mall to shop. Should allow more time in this port to allow for more than 1 activity.

Mazatlan, Mexico

Port was okay if you like freight handling and watching ship and trucks get loaded and unloaded. Outside of this aspect the tour busses were at the dock ready to go once all were accounted for and dropped us back off at front entry to port where we had to get a ride on a shuttle which was like the baggage handler at the airport. We did the All Inclusive Resort excursion which for the most part was good with open bar but down side no food offered. But beautiful property and service was great. Again not enough time in port to do more than 1 activity, each port should have at least 12hrs to allow passangers sufficient time to explore or do more than one excursion.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

Like the port again busses were at the ready once we got off the ship, we did the Tequila tour which was brief tour of the main boardwalk and visit to church near the primary store front/museum location for the Tequila group. Lunch was good but drinks should be included in tour cost. Sufficient time in port which was nice but would be great since there was another activity I would have love to do but it ran till 8:30pm which was very close to departure time if departure could be moved to later.

Disembarkation

Could be done more efficiently rather than having everyone group in a room and have them leave if they meet certain criteria. For prefer class members like FTTP/Platinum/Diamond should go in order of status. Diamonds first off ship, then Platinum members and finally the FTTP people possibly have more than one point of departure to allow faster debarkation.
