Review summary

The only issue we had with the trip was due to weather. High seas and cool temperatures the last two days. The last day was the worst on the high seas. A Lot of people missed dinner the last night.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
This was our best experience ever on Embarkation. We came early and were on the ship extremely fast.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Over all the food was of good to great quality. We thought the desserts were better on this cruise than on some of our past cruises.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
It was a little cool on our return trip (last two sea days). We only used the hot tub one day. I did use the big slide, but could not get any speed out of it.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The 70's/80's rock music show was well done. We enjoyed the family friendly comedian as well. The magician came to our dinner table at 3 different times. He amazed us each time.

Children's Programs

No children on this trip.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Service was good, but not as good as on other cruises.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Ship is well taken care of, but is showing a lot of wear and tear. I believe it is going in for an over haul this year, it needs it. :)

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
No problems with cabin. Windows could be cleaner. Could hear some furniture movement form the floor above us at night. I never heard the elevator or hallway noise.

Ship tip

I would recommend any time dining. That way you can eat around activities.

Ports of call

Long Beach (Los Angeles), California

We stayed at (on) the Queen Mary the night before boarding our ship. We enjoyed it and did some of the tours and ate at Chelsea's Chowder house. It was a good experience. The rooms had a lot of vintage charm. They have seen a lot of use though. Just a warning, the walls are very thin. :) When we checked out we just walked across the parking lot to get on the ship. I saw the Queen Mary's Bell Hops helping others by carrying their luggage to the Carnival terminal.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

We did the Land and Sea tour. The sea portion was great and even made greater by the whales breaching. The boat captain stayed out a little longer to make sure that everyone got to see them. This is not a whale watching excursion, but... The land side we sent on a bus and visited the glass blowing factory and taken to a hill top restaurant for a drink and great view of all of Cabo. And visited a great town and church. The bus trip was great, but a little long.

Mazatlan, Mexico

We did the Colonial Villages of Sierra Madre . The whole tour was great. You get to visit a lot of places that most of the tourist do not go. The beard is outstanding and the lunch was very good.......

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

Was a little disappointed when I looked out my balcony that morning and all I could see was Walmart and Sams. (Yes we did go to Walmart). We did Savia - Rhythms of the Night. They picked us up at 3:30 pm. We did a 40 minute boat ride. The boat crew put on a show there and back and were very entertaining. Upon arriving at the destination you knew you were some where amazing. Hammocks on the beach. And a jungle background. They had a great dinner buffet for us and we ate on the beach. After dinner we had the show. The show was amazing and no one will be disappointed. We arrived back to the ship in the dark. The ship left port only 15 minutes later. The wife and I highly recommend this excursion. It is one the best we have ever done.

Disembarkation

Very organized, but you can never get 5 stars, because your vacation is over.
