Review summary

Overall, our cruise was amazing. I love the Splendor and am sad that the ship is leaving next year. I would definitely recommend the behind the fun tour. I knew the crew all worked very hard to ensure we had a perfect vacation but it was great to see it all first hand.

We arrived around 1:00 for our check in time. We were on the ship within minutes of our arrival.

Food and Dining

We dined in the MDR each night. The food was great. For lunch, the lido has plenty of options. The Mongolian Wok is amazing but be prepared to wait in line for a while.

Carnival Deli

My kids loved the deli and got many sandwiches from there.

The guest services staff is extremely helpful. I had one issue with a charge on my account that wasn’t mine and the guy resolved it immediately. He even sent a thank you gift to the room for being friendly and positive during my visit.

My kids spent many hours at mini golf. It was their favorite place on the ship.

The Alexandria Library

My kids and I loved late nights in the library playing board games as a family. My only complaint is that groups of teens would come in and trash the place leaving game pieces scattered everywhere. These were brand new games put out on our embarkation day.

Service and Staff

Staff members were friendly and greeted us with a smile. Marian, our waiter in the black pearl dining room, is the absolute best. We met him 3 months ago on the same Splendor and loved him so much that we requested to have him again on this cruise.

Ship Quality

I like the layout of the ship. There are some decks that don’t go all the way through due to the galley being in the middle of the ship, but it’s easy to learn how to get around. I found the ship to be very clean. Crew members were always out and about cleaning up messes.

Long Beach (Los Angeles), California

Long Beach is an easy port to maneuver in and out of. I’m local to the area so I didn’t arrive early or do anything extra while in town.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

We love visiting Cabo. Medano Beach is a 20-30 minute walk around the marina. You can take a water taxi, but you miss out on so much along the way including the giant #cabo sign. Medano Beach is absolutely beautiful. The water is clean and you get the most beautiful views there.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

Puerto Vallarta is nice. There’s a beach right by the port that’s only a short walk. The water was very calm and warm. There’s also a mall and a Walmart right across the street from the ship which we utilized for a few needed items.

heather if your talking about the behind the fun tour check at the service desk as soon as you get on ship. It sells out real fast. I think it was close to $100.00 per person but you get gifts at the end of tour. We even got our picture taken with the captain. The tour was very informative. Also have to wear closed shoes not flip flops and there is alot of walking and stairs but well worth it.

Yes we leave from Long beach to Singapore in oct 19 for the Splendor refit trip before it arrives in Sydney this was the first ship we went on from Long beach back 22 cruises ago so looking forward to re visiting her the spirit is going to Brisbane and Legend back to Seattle so I guess Long beach will be getting another ship to replace the Splendor property the panarama we heard .. but not sure 🤔 it's all part of progress I suppose and a matter of getting used to the ship and staff of what you get used too ... happy cruising

That sheet machine was awesome...dried, ironed, and folded the sheets in record time.
