Review summary

I prefer the Caribbean to this one, but in paying for 8 family members, I didn't want to add plane tickets to the cost too. We drove 7 hours to Long Beach. The ship was nice, but the ports weren't as nice.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Checking luggage was the only reason I didn't give a 5 star. That was a little unorganized it seemed. People getting out of taxis kept getting in front of the rest of us already in line. Everything else went pretty good.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food and service was great everywhere we went. We did the dining room each night.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We did trivia, comedy (PG rated), all the shows, karoke, watched performances in the lobby, hairy chest contest, mini golf, spa. MarQ was great and all the performers did a good job.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
One of the lounges was too small for the crowds. There were big lounges not being used and they stuffed karoke in a small one. PG Comedy was good, so were the shows and karoke (over 18)

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Always excellent. Victor and I Komang were our waiters. George was our Steward. Such nice men!

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Cleanliness fine - decor was a little much - to the point of hideous. Pink circles everywhere - made me dizzy!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Very clean - lots of room

Ship tip

Swimming Pool area had a cover for bad weather - that was nice!

Ports of call

Long Beach (Los Angeles), California

4 out of 5
Just got on the boat - Parking was advertised at $17 per day but it was really $19. Fairly easy to get to. Easier to get out. There's some construction that is confusing.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

4 out of 5
Did the Whale Watching on the big boat (no weight limits) - it was great! Unlimited drinks. We aren't alcohol drinkers but they kept us going in sodas and virgin strawberry daquiries and pina coladas. Also unlimited chips and salsa. We got some great pictures of the arch and saw quite a few whales. I think it was much better than doing one of the little boats. We came back and walked to a beach close by. It was kind of dirty and the locals didn't like us there.

Mazatlan, Mexico

4 out of 5
Did the zipline excursion - it was great! But you had to break yourself with a glove and I had a hard time doing that but no one else did. The city we traveled through looked scary. When we got back there were lots of shops to buy things.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

3 out of 5
We got a taxi to the beach. A few of us did parasailing right off the beach - it was fun/scary. We didn't like how the locals kept bugging us to buy their stuff - rugs, dishes, clothes, jewelry, etc. It was getting really annoying to keep saying no thanks.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
We were the first deck off, but it was a little unorganized at first - but once the lines were formed it was ok. It went pretty quickly. They didn't have separate lines for passports and birth certificates, but it still seemed to go fairly quick.

Yes, Cabo is a tender port, but Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta aren't.

We're goingin 9 weeks! What did you do in each of the ports? And did you enjoy the activities? Was Cabo the only one with a tender?
