Review summary
I would like to address a few inconveniences I experienced while on the Carnival Splendor. I had specifically asked for a king bed in my stateroom and was surprised to find that I had two twin beds put together side by side. Which was uncomfortable for me and my partner. I find myself as well as him falling in between the two beds in the gap. Also the air conditioning was warm inside my cabin I called guest services and they said they would send someone to check the temperature and no one came. I then proceeded to go downstairs to guest services, to see if they could change the temperature to make it more cool. After several minutes a tech arrived and said that the temperature was at the adequate temperature for all staterooms. But me and my partner still found the room to be quite warm. I had always experienced the air conditioning in other cruises to be extremely cool. I was uncomfortable at night sleeping with such a warm temperature.
Also I experienced another inconvenience being locked out of my cabin, both my stateroom keys would not open the door. I went down to guest services where they gave me two new keys. I tried those keys and was still not able to go inside my cabin. I used the phone in the hall and called again guest services and the young woman assured me they would send a tech to fix my door. After waiting 30 minutes no tech had arrived, so I called again guest services and she said someone was on their way. The tech finally arrived after more than 30 minutes of me standing outside my cabin unable to get it. It took the tech several attempts which took him approximately another 30 minutes to fix my door and have access to use both stateroom keys.
In addition I was upset to find when I arrived at 8:00 pm to the Black Pearl Dinning on Captain’s Night there was another couple sitting at my assigned table 612. The waiter came and verified with my stateroom card and the list that indeed that was my table and there was an error. After standing for more than 20 minutes and waiting for the staff to find me an available table. I was becoming inpatient, as well as my partner which was his first time cruising on Carnival. I was appalled that there was a lack of organization and not a quick solution. The couple that was seated in my table told the waiter that they refused to get up, and became a little rude and unpleasant. After some time of me telling the staff why they couldn’t seat me in the empty table that was available next to my assigned table. They finally decided to seat me and my partner in the available table. Due to this inconvenience my partner did not want to return to the dining room for dinner for the remainder of the week. I was very disappointed because I enjoy going to the dining room very much. I enjoy the different variety of dishes versus the buffet. The buffet had the same food every evening which became quite boring.
I had another experience by the pool ordering a cocktail and was quite disappointed. I had asked the waiter if the cocktail of the day would come frozen. He assured me that he could bring me the cocktail frozen. I was parched after spending the afternoon in the pool. He took more than 30 minutes to return with no cocktail and no soda which I had ordered with my bubbles account. The waiter told me that the bartender said he could not make the special drink of the day frozen that it only came on the rocks. He explained that I could order any other drink that came frozen and he listed a few drinks. At this point I was frustrated and told him I no longer wanted a cocktail just my soda please. He apologized for the inconvenience and brought me the soda after several minutes. I would think as a VIP customer (VIFP Club of Carnival that I would be able to have the drink I wanted made in any way I liked. I was evening willing to pay more to have the drink made frozen to my liking. When I go on a cruise I expect to be catered to. On other occasions, I also was sent to order a drink at the other bar by the staff because they said that bar was closed. When there was staff working at that bar. Both bars should always be open by the pool to ensure that all guest can have their drinks in a timely manner without making a line at only 1 bar.
I have always loved cruising on Carnival because it truly is the fun ship and I have taken several cruises with Carnival in the past. But on this cruise I was quite disappointed by the many inconveniences I experienced while on the Carnival Splendor. I had saved my money all year to be able to go on this cruise, and was so excited to have a wonderful time with no inconveniences or problems. I would love to receive a reply from your guest care department with feedback regarding this email. I appreciate your time to address my concerns while on the Carnival Splendor for the week of March 12-19 2017. Thank you and have a wonderful day.
