Carnival Splendor

7 Night Eastern Caribbean (Miami Roundtrip)

Sail date: February 12, 2017

Ship: Carnival Splendor

Cabin type: Balcony

Traveled as: Family (young children)

Review summary

it took us about three years to muster up the courage to take the family on a cruise (especially after multiple negative reviews....)... however, putting aside the constant complainers, occasional food lines and crowded pool, the cruise and its excursions exceeded all expectations.... !

... looking into booking another CARNIVAL cruise  early next year !!!!

Well you're hooked! Either you love cruises or hate them. Yes they can be crowded but so are most tourist destinations. Try the cruise to Hawaii from Long Beach. It's been one of my favorites. I've done other cruise lines but dollar for dollar I come back to Carnival.

We have been brand loyal to carnival since cruising. We overall enjoy carnival. But would say we have noticed a change the last two cruises compared to all of our previous cruises in 2012. I would put blame on executive leadership. Maybe the President of Carnival Christine Duffy. It seems since she joined everything in nickeled and dime. For the first time we have looked into other brands but must say we chose Carnival for our next two cruises. Main reasons are the kids programs. However, we are open to RCL and MSC. Who knows.... maybe next year.

Carnival the only way too go? LOL! Many other lines I would sail on before Carnival. Carnival is okay even though the quality has slipped greatly over the last ten years. Glad to hear you enjoyed the cruise.

Carnival Cruise lines the only way to go!! So much fun and everyone is always nice and friendly... other cruise lines seem to be the snobby type.. we are going on our 8th carnival cruise in May and can't wait👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😃

We have ALWAYS had great experiences on Carnival cruises and we've sailed with them at least 5-6 times!! People who have had positive experiences need to post them more often. Agree with dlettkeman to not let the naysayers deter you from fun.

Great review. Yes pools tend to be crowded on family friendly cruises. If you want to swim try early morning or early evening after 4:00 when families start getting ready for early dinner seating. Other times you can just get wet between the kiddies.
