Review summary

This was our 3rd cruise, least favorite. Seas were rough, excursions canceled and Grand Turk stop was canceled (ended up delayed) because of rough water. Food was average, breakfast was not good. Shows weren't great but the piano bar was a lot of fun. The comedy club was pretty good. We booked an inside spa cabin, tried to upgrade once we saw it, couldn't.  Very small and with no port hole or window it seemed like a closet. We heard the Splendor is scheduled for update but not until we were onboard. Will try different cruise line, Princess cruise was much nicer.

Cabin / Stateroom

We figured not in cabin very much why pay extra for a window. Mistake. Sailed in a closet for 7 days. Book at least restricted view, prefer the balcony cabin we had last time.

Ship tip

Buffet was not very good, pizza bar was OK. The hot chocolate melting cake is great. The short ribs were VERY good.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

Just caught ship, didn't spend any time.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

3 out of 5
Went to Coconut Cove, water was rough so couldn't snorkle. Trip to beach was rural area, ROUGH road. Was OK but not great.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

5 out of 5
Went to Magens Bay. Nice swimming spot, good beach, no snorkeling. Town was OK for exploring, all kinds of jewelry and some good food.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

5 out of 5
We had a great time on our own (no excursion). The forts are very interesting and reasonably priced. A lot of small shops and jewelry throughout San Juan.

Grand Turk Island

3 out of 5
We didn't take excursion, swimming and shopping at port. You don't see the island though so would try something else.

This was our 5th cruise with Carnival & yes it was very rough but the captain can't control the weather! We watched from our balcony when he got us into Grand Turk, he did an amazing job! I will say it was our least favorite in decor it needs updated everywhere on the ship even the cabins are out dated! Loved the roof that closed to watch movies. But not enough to choose from on ship as others!

the rough seas isn't the cruise line or captain's fault. Things like that happen. The buffet food I agree wasn't the best but the dinners in the black pearl were great. The decor needs upgrading, everything is pink pink pink
