Don't go on Carnival

Sail Date: April 05, 2015

Reviewed: 1 year ago

Traveled As: Family w/young children

Room Type: Balcony

Crowds and lines everywhere.  We stood in line for dinner for 45 minutes two different nights. On one of them, they still didn't seat us at the same table.  The food was mediocre, at best.  As listed ON THE MENU,  you  get better food for only $20 more.   The pools were masses of humanity. Getting on board was worse than going through customs in Los Angeles.  You couldn't hear the announcements unless you ran into the hall, and then only about 50% of the time, depending who was mumbling.  Internet was expensive and extremely slow.  Camp Carnival was so poor, the kids traveling with us refused to go. they had loved Princess' camp.  No sense going on at this point. You get the picture.

Ship Quality
Food and Dining
Talked to staff about wait; they didn't care. The Hostess at the entrance acted bored.
Cabin / Stateroom
Service and Staff
Cabin and food very good. Management didn't care.
Entertainment
Children's Programs
Onboard Activities
Destinations and Excursions
Miami, Florida
Cozumel, Mexico
OK if you snorkel, otherwise dirty with nothing to do.
Belize City, Belize
Awful city, like being in the slums. Ambergris Cay is where the nice stuff is... 2 hours away.
Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras
Best Island by far. May go there again, but not with Carnival. Carnival has a nice beach there, but they don't tell you about it
Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico
Nothing but a tourist trap designed for cruise ships

Tip

They had a chocolate extravaganza. Too bad they didn't tell us about it.
