Overall it was a fun cruise. It is a lot more casual than any cruise I have been on. Please feel free to ask me any questions.
Embarkation

The wait to get on the ship was not long at all.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
We enjoyed the food on the ship. We ate many meals at the dining room. However, we did eat at the following places as well: guys burgers, blue iguana, bonsai sushi, and buffet.
We did not like the steakhouse. It was not worth it.
Make sure to go to Tea Time in the dining room. I only saw this offered one time. It was so fun to have the fun pastries and tea. Barely anyone was there!
We did notice that, compared to other cruises, the service was good, but the staff seemed stretched very very thin. There were longer waits for everything, food and bars.
Onboard Activities

Dome Main Pool
5 out of 5
We saw kids playing in the pool towards the middle and end of the cruise. It just wasn’t the type of cruise where people were laying out in their suits, even in the domed pool.
Photo Gallery
4 out of 5
The day before embarkation the photo place was giving 4 free wallet pictures with the purchase of one portrait picture. We took advantage of this.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
We played bingo twice and that was fun.
We tried trivia once and I think because of the size of the ship it was crowded so we didn’t participate more than once.
We saw one live show which was fun.
We went to the night club twice, and that was more fun than I expected! There were people of all ages there having a great time.
Make sure if you want to do soul play -art that you register on the app RIGHT away!
We went to the “open house night “ for it, thinking that’s how we sign up. I asked the service desk how to sign up and they told me to go to open house. That info was incorrect.
To
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Everyone was kind and courteous. However, it was extremely apparent that there was a lot less staff than any other cruise we have been on.
This was apparent at the bars and all service restaurants.

Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
We had an obstructed view cabin and it was great. It was nice having light come in. We didn’t mind having the view of the life boat.
Our room had two twin beds and a bunk bed.
We had a wonderful day in this port. We had no excursion planned. The worst get was great.
There was a city free bus that does pick ups near the port. We waited for awhile, but thought it was taking too long.
We found a taxi that took us to a place called “creek street” for 7.00.
It is a historical boardwalk street not far from the ship. It is possible to walk, we just didn’t because of family member’s health.
There is a museum next door to creek street. There are shops and pretty views of the creek. There is also a formal brothel that offers tours.
We walked around the shops and enjoyed the views and museum.
It was late and a short time for the excursion. My child and I decided to do a pedicab. It was wonderful. I think we saw a lot for 2 hours!
She took us through the heritage district looking at beautiful homes and their history. She took us through parks and we saw pretty gardens and peacocks. She took us past famous landmarks - empress hotel and parliament building. Wage took us through beautiful streets with shops and restaurants. We stopped to do a little shopping. We also went through Chinatown.
I wish I could stay longer. It was a beautiful and charming clean city!
Our excursion in Juneau did not let us explore the town at all, besides the excursion. We really wished we could have explored. The weather was wonderful this day.
We did the mendenhall glacier and whale quest excursion.
The whale part was good, but too long. We did see large sea lions and whales. There was a snack area where beverages and snacks could be purchased. I think it was 2-3 hours on the boat for this.
The glacier part was wonderful to see. We gad one hour and 15 minutes, I believe. We saw the visitor center and were able to get some nice pictures. Because of the time constraint, we are unable to do any trails or see this really pretty waterfall.
The day we visited this port we had the worst weather so it wasn’t the best day. It rained and was very windy all day. There was a little bus that would pick you up for a couple of bucks at the port and take you to town to walk around.
We had the train excursion with gold panning.
The train ride was nice and there was some narration. I was moping to see more, but with the fog and rain it wasn’t the best views.
My child participated in the gold panning. I thought it was too cold and windy. They had fun with it.
We did walk around the town a little bit and it was quite small. We visited gift shops and a free museum. This excursion had the longest time there. I wish it hadn’t been so much time there.
The easiest and quickest experience ever!
The only caution I have is to be careful with catching a taxi leaving the port. We had a driver that claimed his meter was broken and wanted a lot of money for the fare once we arrived at hotel.
We did report him.
The same thing happened when we arrived in Seattle also.
Thanks for the detailed review. I’m going on July 25 , 2023 . Here are my questions.
What time did u embark ?
Did u take Carnival excursion or outside ? What do u suggest ? Is there other excursion company outside the ship ?
For each ports what are your suggestions
Appreciate your informative and detailed review. Sorry the weather didn’t cooperate everyday but happy it mostly sunny. Sounds like you need to go back to do the things you didn’t get to do because of time limits. Glad you enjoyed your cruise.
