Review summary

I have been on many cruises, and this is the first one I would easily have gotten right back on. We are already planning another cruise on this ship without the kids, and are excited about when this ship moves to Mobile later this year.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
For some reason the ship took a long time to be prepared for the cruisers. They didn’t start boarding until about an hour after the first boarding time. The room was completely packed with cruisers, waiting patiently. However, once they started the boarding process, it went quickly and smoothly.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
It was standard Carnival food. I will say, if you mix the hot chocolate with the coffee, it is very good. The buffets were okay, as can be expected. We didn’t try the restaurants, and the food in the main dining room was hit or miss. The coffee shop on deck 2 is great.

Deli

4 out of 5

The deli was pretty good! I will say, I am somewhat confused on some of their menu items. I ordered the turkey because it didn’t list their mustard/mayo spread as a part of it, and it still came with the spread. I don’t like special ordering, so that was a bit disappointing.

Fountain Cafe

Great place for coffee! The mochaccino is great! I also love getting the cold brew with vanilla and half n half, and whip cream with a chocolate straw. So good!

Grand Buffet

Same ole, same ole. ☺️

Empire Restaurant

Staff was great. Decor was gorgeous! Food is pretty good! I loved the soups. The salmon was very flavorful. The filet mignon was very chewy and stringy. I don’t recommend.

Onboard Activities

We utilized the pool a few times. It was warm! It was as warm as the hot tubs usually are, and the hot tub was actually hot! I am speaking of the pool in the covered area and the hot tub in the uncovered area. I can’t speak to the serenity deck, as we had small children with us and didn’t check it out. The splash pad and slides looked fun, but if you are going to use them, do it on the first sea day, in the afternoon if weather permits. If you wait longer than that, it will probably be way too cold.

Dome Main Pool

Very warm! It took until the middle of the first sailing day to get warm, but once they warmed it, it stayed warm.

Photo Gallery

They took decent pictures! We bought five and are very excited about framing them and hanging them up.

Louis XIV Casino

Some people were hitting and doing well. I went down there once and hit a $77 win. My husband, however, didn’t hit ANYTHING the whole time. Roulette wasn’t too bad to him, but the slots were tight!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Lots of options and tons of entertainment!

Versailles Lounge

5 out of 5

A great space and intimate place for the comedy shows. We only went to one comedy show because the kids were not amused, but it was comfortable and we were close.

Pharaoh's Palace Main Lounge

5 out of 5

The rock show/80s show/ and 88 keys show were on par with VEGAS shows! These performers KNOW how to perform! Don’t miss these shows! They are incredible!

Library

Beautiful with some fun games to play. This place was happening during this cruise!

Children's Programs

Video Arcade

Some of the games were broken, but the majority of them worked great. I gave it 3 stars because the prize options were pretty pathetic for how much it costs to get tickets 😂

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All ship personnel were great! Very friendly and willing to be helpful and accommodating!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
This was one of my husband and mines favorite ships. It was beautiful! And it was incredibly clean. I saw staff cleaning baseboards one morning! I’ve never seen that!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Very nice cabin. Great balcony! It had a large overhang up top which was perfect for the rainy days (and there were many rainy days), and it was clean.

Ship tip

They keep it warm. Have some spring clothes to wear before you get further up north. I was sweating so much because I only packed sweaters.

Ports of call

Cruise Tracy Arm Fjord, Alaska

5 out of 5
Incredible! I’ve never seen anything like it. If you can, book the excursion to get closer to the glacier. We didn’t, because there were four of us, but I might want to the next time we go.

Victoria, British Columbia

It is a late port, so we only walked to the one tiny shop that was open, and it was crowded and slow moving, but had some cute stuff!

Ketchikan, Alaska

So much fun! Make sure you check out Dolly’s !

Seattle, Washington

Seattle is dirty and a bit scary! There seemed to be lots of “messed up” people running around, screaming out curse words, and getting in tourists faces. The people who work in the shops and at places are incredibly friendly though. I’m pretty sure we walked past human fecal matter on the sidewalk. And urine. Don’t look down the alleyways 😅🥴

So easy and painless.
