Review summary

We loved Carnival Spirit. Our balcony cabin was comfortable. We were in the Aft part of the ship and I think next time we will try to get a cabin closer to the middle. We felt the food was good, the buffet had a large selection. The dining room was beautiful. We had a table for 2 and the table felt isolated in a separate area from the dining room. When the wait staff danced we felt isolated from the entertainment. The ship is clean, the gym had several machines out of order. The pool areas were nice. We are non smokers and it was nice that only part of the ship permits smoking. In the evenings there is a sushi bar which we enjoyed. The entertainment was just OK. There were a couple good shows and comedy nights but other than that the entertainment seemed to consist trivia and karaoke. Overall, we had a wonderful time and would recommend this ship.

Entertainment

There was a lot of trivia games. Sports trivia, Celebrity trivia. I felt there was a lack in entertainment options. There was comedy which was just OK. There also seemed to be a lot of Karaoke which we were not big fans of.

The TV in our room would rattle from the ships movement. We had to put a pillow to support it and stop the noise at night while we were sleeping.

Ports of call

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

We were here two days. On day 1 we rented jet skis at Medano Beach which is a short walk from the ship. This is a fun beach and I recommend it. On day 2 we took an excursion I had booked online with another company. They were late in leaving because they waited for another ship that arrived that day. We almost did not go because we would not be back on time for our 3:15pm tender but many people from our ship were on this excursion and they had us back with plenty of time to spare. We went through the Golden Coast and snorkeled at Chileno Bay which was a lot of fun!
Don't Miss: Medano Beach, Chileno Bay

Ensenada, Mexico

We were not going to get off the ship but decided to take a look around Ensenada. There is a shuttle from the ship to downtown that charges $4 per person. Then there is an excursion to La Bufadora for $15. We opted to go. La Bufadora is about 45 minutes from the ship. There are a lot of shops if you are interested in buying souvenirs (which we didn't care for). We has a couple beers at a restaurant until it was time to return. The best thing were the $2 churros.

Manzanillo, Mexico

I did not like this port. There is nothing in Manzanillo. The ship docks in downtown and there are a lot of locals doing their shopping. There is no beach for swimming nearby. You have to take a 25 minute taxi ride. The taxi's here are pricey and the beaches are ugly with dark sand and too many waves. Been there....probably will never go back.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

We took a city tour with one of the people offering outside the ship. It only cost $20 and lasted about 4 hours and took us to drink Tequila, a little river, to the South point of Vallarta, downtown and other highlights. I would recommend this excursion.
