Review summary

This was our first experience with Carnival and will probably be our last. The best part of the trip was meeting new people. Unimpressed with the ship, staff, and overall cleanliness.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Busy but the staff were efficient.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The main dining room was nice, if you don't mind the singing acts during your meal this would be something you would enjoy. We were not impressed with the food in the dining room or the buffets. We did enjoy the burgers at Guys.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
We booked a spa experience prior to our trip, acupuncture. As they typically do they try and upsell you on every little thing. It does take away from the experience and puts a negative on it.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We did enjoy the 80's show and trivia. The only downside to this was trivia we had to use our phone and there was a lag. This was not something that could be avoided, still had a wonderful time.

Service and Staff

1 out of 5
It was very evident that the ship was understaffed from the beginning of the cruise. Waiting up to 45 minutes for a server to bring you a drink from the bar (even ice water) was a daily occurrence. If you went to the bar to get something yourself you waited for ever, the staff would not pay attention to who was there first and would just serve people at random. The only way we could get faster service was by tipping heavily and hoping for the best. You shouldn't have to tip someone $20 for two drinks every single time.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
Very closed off and event areas were too small. The buttons at the elevators were not cleaned the entire cruise. We had to use our shirts just to avoid touching them. We had one wonderful kid who kept the tables clean throughout the day while on deck 9 (Gusti); unfortunately, he was done at 6:00 pm and then nothing appeared to be done for the remainder of the day. Someone was sick in the restroom and when someone was advised they just went in and locked that stall door without cleaning it.

Cabin / Stateroom

1 out of 5
The size of the room was the best thing about our room. Upon entering our room there was pubic hairs throughout the shower and mold on the ceiling and walls in the restroom. We called 3 times to guest services about the air conditioning that did not appear to be working and no one ever came down to take a look or advise us if they were/were not able to do anything about the concern.

Ports of call

Grand Turk Island

4 out of 5

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

2 out of 5
This really should not be considered as part of the trip. It is industrial and really only for the ship to refuel for the return trip.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Very disorganized by the cruise staff but the individuals working directly at the port were efficient.
