Review summary

The partial Panama Canal transit cruise is a great destination cruise even if you do not get off the ship anywhere in Panama.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very quick and pain free

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Every meal except one was good.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Went to relax so did not participate in many activities.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Got exactly what I expected from the shows and performers onboard.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Would give 10 stars. Ordin, our room steward, was great.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Was on Carnival Pride in December 2019 out of Baltimore so from that aspect I knew the ship already. The ship was clean and well maintained, but I do not remember the casino and other smoking areas being so bad, but I actively avoid passing thru those locations as smoke messes with my sinuses.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Cabin was large enough and comfortable, I wish there was more space between the beds, but I understand the limits. Again our room steward Ordin did an amazing job keeping the room clean.

Ship tip

If you have smoke allegeries or sensitivities avoid the casino and areas around it and the starboard side of the decks they allow smoking.

Ports of call

Tampa, Florida

5 out of 5
It was very nice as we stayed at a hotel located on the free Tampa tram line that took us straight to the port.

Puerto Limon, Costa Rica

5 out of 5
Not much to do at the port itself from what I could see, but the Train, Boat, Bus excursion was very good.

Panama Canal (Cruise Into Canal)

5 out of 5
The destination I booked the cruise for, even though you do not get off the ship in Panama. It was very interesting to see and experience the canal lock process.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

5 out of 5
Good shopping opportunities if you like that sort of thing, wish there had been more choices for eating, but what we ate was good.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
The quickest experience I have had so far, would definitely recommend sailing out of Tampa.
