Review summary

We were highly satisfied with this cruise; it actually exceeded expectations. Our pleasant surprises were the excellent food (albeit with somewhat limited vegetarian options), and the terrific entertainers in the evening shows. Dr. E, the cruise director, was easily the best we've seen. He's talented, funny and engaging.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Smoothest port we've been at (NYC, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Baltimore)

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food far exceeded expectations in all aspects but vegetarian options were somewhat limited.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Pools were very crowded. Not enough chairs in the shade near pools or elsewhere. Waterslides were OK not as good as other ships.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Despite some cheesiness in the stage performances, they were ALL fun and the performers themselves were very talented. We especially enjoyed comedian Macio and the Coconotes rock band at the Red Frog Pub. Dr. E, the cruise director, was easily the best we've seen. He's talented, funny and engaging.

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
Daughter (11) thoroughly enjoyed Camp Ocean and the staff was very kind and accommodating.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Waitstaff members Haidee and Joan were excellent. Hostess Dijana helped us get a table rather than a booth which was much more comfortable. Room team led by Claudius did their best to help with an odor in the room.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
There was at times a skunky smell in our room, but the team did everything they could to assist us, including shampooing the carpeting while we were out.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Good for the three of us but would be too small for four. Closets were weirdly arranged. More drawers would be better. Very clean and well kept.

Ship tip

You can walk end-to-end indoors without going through the Casino by staying on level 3. We avoided smoky areas that way.

Ports of call

Grand Turk Island

3 out of 5
Not the most exciting island. The times in port of 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. were weird and made it hard to really enjoy.

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

4 out of 5
Beautiful beach but rocks in the water can be painful.

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

3 out of 5
Just visited the shopping area around the ship. Not much to say. The times in port of 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. were weird and made it hard to really enjoy.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Had to wait a bit long, but not as long as expected. Getting off and obtaining baggage was extremely smooth.
