Review summary

This turned out to be one of our most enjoyable cruises and we had a great time sharing it with family and friends.

Embarkation

1 out of 5
This was the fastest, smoothest embarkation experience I have had. We could not enter the terminal to park unti 1130, but from then on it was smooth sailing through luggage drop-of, through security in no time flat (despite my husband requiring a search because of his leg and ankle braces), to the desk to pick up keys and then straight onto the ship. We were in our cabin by 12:15 (ready because we did pay for FTTF, but our travel companions who did not were on the ship just as fast.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We had excellent food in the MDR and *love* the new port day breakfast, especially the avocado toast and the homemade granola, which was the best I have ever tasted. Dinners were also excellent and our servers, Angel, Mackbeth and Eka took amazing care of all our needs, I love the changes to the menu and the rotating port of call specialties that have added a lot of variety to meals. Our only regret was the night we ate in David's Steakhouse. While the food was good, the atmosphere was dreadful as the restaurant is open not only to the lido buffet below, but all the way to the atrium, which meant that we could not have a conversation over all the noise and that it became actively unpleasant once nightly lobby activities began. I am sure the folks doing the 80s and 90s sing along were havig a great time, but I do not pay extra to have an elegant dinner while listening to hundreds of drunks shreik the "Barbie Girl" song. I will never do that on this ship again, and if I have an overwhelming need for a better one than the flat iron on the nightly menu, I will pay the lesser surcharge to have it delivered to the dining room where I can enjoy it properly and with convivial company.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
We had the best staff we have had on any trip. Our room steward, Rowena and her assistant Wawan did an outstanding job taking care of a room of 4. When we got on the ship my room was the celanest I have ever had it, despite the fast turnover from that morning, and everything smelled fresh and clean. "Our" bartender at the Red Frog, Ingred, was always friendly and ready with a laugh and a smile and outstanding Whiskey Sours. Our waitstaff was top notch, as were the spa ladies. Overall we could not have been made more welcome or more made to feel like family.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
This is my favorite ship I have travelled on. They layout is convenient, with plenty of spaces tucked away for the number of passengers on board, so that even during 4th of July week it did not seem overcrowded, while still being small eough to navigate easily. The Pride is beautiful and I love the Renaissance-themed decor. While she shows her age around the edges, she was spotlessly clean and I am sure will be restored to her full beauty after the upcoming dry dock.

Ports of call

Grand Turk Island

5 out of 5
I like Grand Turk as it is much less built-up and "touristy" than some of the other islands. Others probably dislike it for the same reason, but the museum is worth a visit, the waters are gorgeous and perfect for scuba abd snorkeling and there are lovely beaches withing walking distance of the ship. What more could you want for a day stop?

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

5 out of 5
This was the first time we made it to Half Moon Cay and we absolutely loved it! We had a large group (18), so we rented the Private Oasis, which was worth every penny. Snorkeling right off the deck with a wonderful variety of sea life, outstanding food cooked by our personal chef, and our own bartender and hostess. When you broke it down by person it really was a bargain and I plan to do it again some day. Mary Grace, Suwan, Orawan and everyone else there made us feel like celebrities.

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

2 out of 5
It's Freeport, it;s industrial, the only things in town are a shopping center and casino, and if you are only there for a few hours in the morning the excursions don't feel like they are worth much. We just gt off long enough this time to grab a couple last-minute cheap souvenirs in the straw market at the port and had a spa day back on the ship as we had been before.
