Review summary

This was my first cruise. My advice to anyone else going on their first is to choose a shorter one. It was smooth sailing except for one day. The boat rocked so much. I figured since I made it 5 days without getting sick I would be fine but I ended up with motion sickness. Be aware of that. It could hit you at any time.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
It seems like a longer process getting on the boat than traveling by plane.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
I enjoyed the convenience of eating around the clock even though after day 4 the meal selection seemed redundant. The drinks were the best!!!

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
My favorite activity was the casino. Lost more than I won but that's the risk of gambling. The pool deck party was fun.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
We saw one comedy show. It wasn't that funny so we skipped out on the rest. Probably should have given the comics a chance.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
I loved the staff. They were friendly and helpful.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
There was not one time I walked the ship and pointed out a cluttered mess. Other than dishes on tables the staff kept the ship clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The bed was comfortable. There was an abundance of closet space. I was surprise there was a TV in our room.

Ship tip

Did not travel during hurricane season.

Ports of call

Baltimore, Maryland

5 out of 5
I didn't do any excursions here. I did enjoy the view.

Grand Turk Island Did not visit port

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island) Did not visit port

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

5 out of 5
We only visited the tourist shops. The locals were friendly.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
It was a smoother and faster process than embarkation.

Our first cruise, we did the same thing as my wife really doesn't like boats or water and I didn't want to be trapped for a week while she was miserable. She absolutely loved it! Now it's all 7 days at least. We will do a 5 day on occasion but we tend to prefer the longer cruises and the more sea days, the better!

I love cruises but I'm prone to seasickness , the minute that ship moves I put on the motion wristbands and I'm fine for the week

Take a motion sickness pill before the cruise or visit your doctor and get a patch that goes behind your ear. It worked fine for my Mom.

I agree first cruises should be short cruises whenever possible. I've introduced my son, sister, two co workers and a few other friends to cruising on our local ships out of our local port on three day weekend cruises. Out of the six, four have caught the bug and have been on longer cruises. The other two can take it or leave it.

confused.....why book a shorter cruise? bad weather can happen on day 1 just as easily on day 5 or 7.....
