Carnival Paradise - MUST READ! by Todddd

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The math is simple - One pool is not enough for 3,000 passengers. Besides the water slides, it is the ONLY place to get relief from the sun. The pool was tiny and the water was disgusting. I got in one time and it was like I was bathing in everyone’s sweat, hair products, and tanning oil. Terrible decision for them to remove the other pools without replacing them. Instead, they have 4 hot tubs to raise your temperature even more. Dumb.......

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Paradise

Topic: Food The food was really good throughout the cruise. One day we had ribs in the buffet and they were good according to my father! The Deli was absolutely amazing. I didn’t get a bite of the pizza but from my previous cruises with Carnival especially on the Carnival Paradise, the pizza was amazing. Recently they added Guys Burger Joint and Blue Iguana Cantina! The food at both was absolutely amazing :) In the main dining room the food was good. We had Seaday Brunch and that was absolutely amazing :3 Topic: Entertainment The Entertainment on the Paradise was absolutely amazing. On all my other Carnival Cruises which include the Inspiration, Imagination, Sensation, Paradise x 3, Sunshine, and Triumph, the shows were best on the Paradise :3 The comedy shows were the funniest especially with Edgar. We did so many fun games and I just was blown away with the entertainment this cruise. Topic: Room We got a Grand Suite on deck 6. The room was very spacious and the balcony was big. Our room steward, Mr. P, was very nice and made the room nicely.

Our family of four thoroughly... by Johnstradamus

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Paradise

Our family of four thoroughly enjoyed our five day cruise on the Paradise. Having been on a non-refurbished Fantasy class ship last summer, it was nice to already be familiar with the overall layout, but also have access to all the new upgrades. Overall we had a great time, and similar to other small ship experiences, the crew really stood out as the shining star of the Paradise. A few random observations: Stateroom: refurb was nice. Everything felt clean and new. Waterworks: our kids really enjoyed this area. Unfortunately someone decided to send their non potty trained child there which resulted it the waterworks being shut down for almost all of our fist sea day. Certainly not Carnival’s fault but the impact not only meant kids couldn’t use it, but the pool deck was overcrowded with folks moving from the closed venue. Nightly shows: standard caliber for a ship of this type. We were entertained. Cruise Director and staff: Cam and his team were highly engaging and did all they could to make sure everyone had a great time. Main Dining Room: the waitstaff were top notch and very personable. The food variety and quality however left a little to be desired. I’m not saying it was bad, it just didn’t really stand out as great at any time. It reminded us of something you might expect at Applebee’s or TGIF. Again, not terrible, but I’ve come to expect more from a cruise ship. Blue Iguana and Guys Burgers: we ate lunch here daily and couldn’t be happier. In other reviews, Guy’s gets all the press, but we liked the Blue Iguana even better. Piano Bar: we always love a good piano bar and this was no exception. Our piano player was Lady Red and if you are fortunate enough to spend some time with her you won’t be sorry. She had a way of making all the passengers is the piano bar feel like a group of friends. Faster to the Fun: we pulled into the parking garage at 11 and were on Lido with a frozen drink at noon. Couldn’t have been easier. On debarkation day we opted for self carry off. They announced at 7:45 we had been cleared by immigration to begin debarkation, and we were pulling out of the parking garage at 8:00. Fastest ever. Overall this was a great cruise for the money. It wasn’t the newest, biggest, or fanciest, but it wasn’t priced like it was any of those things. We definitely had a very nice time relaxing and creating family memories.

Don't waste your time or... by kerriec

Ship: Carnival Paradise

Don't waste your time or money on the yoga classes. They are great if you just want to stretch, but definitely not a true yoga class linking breath to movement. I was very disappointed....I was hoping to do a class everyday because it is more relaxing than a massage to me.

It was a fantastic cruise. by Cherylkay67

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I had a really great time. I played some of the games they offer hosted by Jorge and really enjoyed them. I had never done that before. Also, my daughter, Kaycee, is doing an internship on the Paradise and I would like to commend all of the staff, especially The Ocean Camp Staff, for looking out for her this summer. They really made her feel at home and at ease which sure makes a mom rest easier.

Terrible cruise by Autumn84

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My family of 5 went on the carnival paradise on 07/26/18. Our room had no air conditioning, the sink would not drain and our floor flooded with sewage! Guest services could not move us to another room and just apologized and brought us a fan. My kids would not even stay in our room with us because it was extremely hot and had a terrible odor. They slept with other family members on another floor. We also complained to corporate when we got off the ship and the only thing they will offer is a 300 dollar credit and 15 percent off a future cruise. They validated all of these issues with the ship but said that this is their protocol and they can’t offer anymore money. This is awful customer service. All I wanted was a refund for my cabin or even another cruise. The guest service line on the ship was an hour long with people from our same floor complaining about the same problems. Carnival is an awful cruise line who do not care about their customers.

Just got off today. Cruise... by debcortina

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Paradise

Just got off today. Cruise was good for what they work with. Cabin was great (u129). Our steward was wonderful. The ship is old. We all know that. It was small too....but u know this when u book. One small pool. Standing room only. How about getting rid of some of those hot tubs and putting in another pool??? Not enough shady areas too or activities. The entertainment was amazing. Dancers were very good. Staff could have done a better job cleaning off tables on the lido deck. Over all we had fun

Outstanding Family Experience by YIcruise72

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Cuba

We enjoyed Cuba and Key West. I would caution against traveling in July and August. Other than that, everything was smooth. From the ocean to the staff. Do the Chef's table if you get a chance. It's amazing.

FUN - but not relaxing by ccbp

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Cuba

i had fun, but I left kinda tired. no place aboard ship to really relax and have some peace and quiet. the pool is quite small and noisy, and the serenity area was always in the sun, it seems, and kinda crowded. ship staff was always extremely accommodating, and very friendly. ship was very clean.

Cuba....A step back in time by DanMary

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Cuba

Cuba is a whole other experience! Don't come here expecting to be treated to beaches with umbrella drinks. The people are warm and welcoming BUT you are in their environment. To them we are all wealthy and excessive. The P to P tours take a lot of your time! You will not have a lot of time to explore on your own. (Make time, even a short time to ride in one of the old cars) make every minute count when not on tour. A lot of buildings in disrepair, the only updating was being done (or had been done) to the government buildings. Attend the Tropicana, its iconic and like stepping back in time. We loved or tip and the experience made us appreciate our GREAT COUNTRY! We are very blessed to have the freedoms that we enjoy and take for granted. If you go keep an open mind, and a pocket FULL of patience as everything is paced much slower.

We went on the Paradise... by dawndonald

We went on the Paradise last year sailing to Cuba and we were totally disappointed! This year we got an extremely good deal and decided to give it another chance. We are so glad we did! The cruise director Joey was amazing. The whole ship seemed to work better and seemed happier!

Great cruise, great staff like... by Luisito81

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Paradise

Great cruise, great staff like always. Carnival still needs to change rules about drink packages though. Their ships are still a little beat up. I’ll probably end up doing Royal Caribbean next year instead. But it doesn’t matter what ship you go on or what company, I gave it 4 stars because vacation is vacation and no matter what you will have fun!

Just got off the Carnival... by CruiserOlivia

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Paradise

Just got off the Carnival Paradise! It was so much fun! Everything was nice and clean. The staff was friendly. However, there weren’t many activities around the ship and it was a bit crowded. Also the shows were a little boring as well as the comedy clubs. The cruise director was so funny and the DJs were great! The pool was a fun place to hang out and the music was great!

Nightmare by usnerj31177

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Lets see......from the time we boarded where they lost my bag and despite repeated promises of help to find it. I took matters into my own hands, found it, had a crew member offer to carry it back to my cabin...turned around and crew member and my bag were gone again. 2 hours later, i finally got my bag. To....the night before disembarking when a pipe exploded above my bags in hallway around 1 am. After repeated calls to maintenance, customer care and being placed on hold for an hour. Room service finally relayed my message to maintenance after 2 hours of water pouring from the ceiling. I stayed awake and continued to empty a trash can i had placed under the leak. My bags and belongings were soaked. Maintenance finally arrived and banged around outsode my cabin until about 4am. We were supposed to disembark around 6-7. Needless to say, I was tired the rest of the day. Everything in between SUCKED too. However, the only good part of the cruise was that my kids age 13 and 16 both had a blast on board. #nevercarnivalagain

Where to begin? With the... by usnerj31177

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Paradise

Where to begin? With the luggage issue at beginning, one of the many things during or the water running down on my luggage from deck above? I believe the worst part was the water i discovered at 1am after it had already drenched my luggage and took an hour to contact someone to fix it. I got 2 hours sleep before i had to disembark with wet baggage and clothes. Ran for 2 hours. Banging outside for an hour and not one single, "thanks for making us aware" or "sorry your bags are dropping wet" or "sorry to keep you awake when you have to get off ship in 2 hours" while experience was a nightmare. Guess they rely on guests being too intoxicated to notice all the bull, but i don't indulge. NEVER AGAIN! Things were missing from my luggage btw, not that you cared to ask after i wandered the ship to find my own luggage after you lost it.

Carnival Cruise Line = NO by FlaCruiserRalph

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

If you are looking for really good service onboard, think again about Carnival Paradise. However, our cabin steward (Marvin) was excellent. There is nothing major wrong with this ship -- it just lacks a lot of little quality services found on other ships. The safety drill, as we were leaving port, was a complete and utter mess. No one, including the person making the announcements over the PA system, had a clue what they were doing. Heavens forbid what would happen during an actual emergency.
