Review summary

Easy embarkation and debarkation. Great food, entertainment and Carnival staff.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Easiest embarkation thus far. The port staff and Carnival’s have created a great experience for guests. It is a well-oiled-machine. We have sailed out of Miami, Galveston and Seattle and by far Long Beach has been outstanding!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Every evening there was something new to choose from in the main dinning room. Other choices were especially restaurants for every kind of taste. I tried new foods and flavors and if not to your taste there was a replacement. No one went hungry.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The skyride is always a favorite as well as the sports activities. The pools and hot tubs were warm and inviting especially since the outdoor temperature was in the high 60’s. Trivia was our favorite. We enjoyed testing our knowledge in random categories. This cruise, 5 “ships on a stick”, was the best we could do.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
There were bands and ensembles throughout the ship that set a unique ambiance depending on the genre of music. The nightly shows had an array of voices that showed the unique talent each one had. The reason for a lower score on this review, deals with this particular reason: they had too short of a time together before uniting on board to harmonize and sync choreography. They were new to each other. Two of the shows were fantastic with costumes, harmony and dance. They were still working on the other shows’ choreography so they sang! Beautiful voices!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
We have never been disappointed with the wait staff. The waiters at the main dinning room became our “friends” for the short time we had them. We got to know about their homeland and their experiences. Our room steward was interested in our ultimate comfort and ensured that our cabin wasn’t in need of anything. We always give them extra gratuities. There are a lot of people you will never meet because they work in the bowels of the ship carefully coordinating for our comfort.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was designed like its sister ship- the Vista. We had already been on the Vista several times and had no problems maneuvering its ins and outs. Cleaning is a continuous chore and this ship was sparking all the time!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
This was our second time in the Havana. The privacy of an aft cabin, the soothing sound and view of the ship’s wake are priceless.

Ship tip

Try an aft cabin! To bypass the casino’s smoke, walk through 5th floor. The opening is encased in glass

Ports of call

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

5 out of 5
Loved the location but most people didn’t like that you had to take a “water taxi” to port as well as the “pushy” vendors of everything from trinkets to excursions. One of my favorite ports due to its beauty.

Mazatlan, Mexico

2 out of 5
Scary place knowing that cartels control this port. I would not return here.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

4 out of 5
Lots of things to do and experience.

Long Beach (Los Angeles), California

5 out of 5
Long Beach has much to offer. There is the beach, restaurants, shopping…

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Just like embarkation, it was a well-oiled-machine!
