Review summary

This was my first cruise out of Long Beach, I’m very impressed with the terminal itself. While the water was chilly in February, it was still enjoyable and we had a good time. I’d like to do this itinerary again but when the water is warmer. There were no issues and most everyone stayed masked up. I loved the smokeless casino!!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very smooth and easy embarkation, we had a 12-12:30 boarding time and we were on by 11:30 because it wasn’t that crowded.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Same MDR options as usual, the Sea Day Brunch was very good and the Port Day breakfast were amazing. Pig and Anchor Trashcan Nachos will haunt me until I recreate that amazing recipe.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
There didn’t seem to be a lot going on during the day besides upswell opportunities for guests to buy things (spa shows, jewelry experiences, liquor tastings, etc). The standard trivia was available but some of the best ones were on port days when people weren’t there.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Shows were good but I’ve seen them before. Piano Bar and live music was good.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Cabin size was perfect for 2 people but we were right over a live music venue that started playing late and didn’t stop until almost midnight. Loud bass thumping through the room for 4 hours was frustrating. Totally my bad for not researching it beforehand.

Ports of call

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

5 out of 5
We took a catamaran excursion to Majahuitas and Yelapas, it was fun.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

5 out of 5
We did a sailboat snorkel and whale watch excursion. Hands down one of the best experiences I’ve ever had! We had humpback whales surfing all around us, dozens of them! It was truly magical and awe inspiring.

Mazatlan, Mexico

4 out of 5
The excursion we took was horrible, but what we saw of the city looked nice. It would’ve been better to experience more of the culture and sites and less of the construction and friends of the tour guide.
