Review summary

So I booked this cruise in the hope of some whale watching in Cabo. We hadn't really sailed Carnival since our children were cruising with us. The deal was so good, I had to give this newer ship a try. Plus, the Mexican Riviera itinerary is great. The Panorama is a beautiful ship. We especially enjoyed the Serenity deck (adults only).

Embarkation

5 out of 5
A breeze. Long Beach is a bit of a mess to get into, but once we got out of the uber, everything was fine.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Great. Especially the Iguana and the Burger Joint. After many years without Carnival, we had to smile that the MDR did not have table cloths.

BlueIguana Cantina

5 out of 5

Great breakfast burritos

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Pool, promenade, fitness. Also enjoyed Serenity deck very much.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Overall, good entertainment. The theater is nice. Because the ship was so empty, we had no problem with seating.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Excellent al around. They seemed especially attentive, as newly back from covid leave.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Very nice layout. Aft pool deck was a nice get away from the main pool. Clean everywhere.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Large, comfortable cabin. Sufficient plugs, though I do bring 6 inch mini 3way extension, just in case. I enjoyed that the cabin had a sofa and table. It made getting ready for dinner a little roomier.

Ship tip

Go to the Serenity deck for some adults only relaxation. As a couple it was easy to find a lounger.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

We've been plenty of times, so we don't do excursions. We love Puerto Vallarta. Massages. Plus, I found a new beach bar on Play las Muertas.

Mazatlan, Mexico

We've been plenty of times, so we don't do excursions. Stone Island is our thing.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

5 out of 5
We did a whale watching excursion. We did see whales, but from a distance.

Disembarkation

Ordered the $29 LAX shuttle thru Carnival. It was great.
