Review summary

We had an excellent time. After not being on a ship for a couple years and having 4 canceled we really needed this. Every crewmember was so happy to see you. Lee the cruise director is an amazing cruise director and He always make sure that everyone is having a good time. We really enjoyed the 80s night and the silent disco that was new for us. As far as the white night the only thing I saw about that was it was in the club starting at 11 o’clock and we had a teenager so we missed that. For us this cruise was more about being on the ship then doing excursions we had nothing planned I was not really disappointed by that. During our cruise we were selling at 70% capacity and it really made a difference we never had to wait to get drinks, we never had to wait to get seated once we checked in on our phones for dining. And it just didn’t seem overwhelming. We did not use the pools at all, we save that for home. Oh we also used the spa my daughter and I got our hair done she got hers curled I got mine straightened. Starting price online was $59 but we both ended up paying over $100 each. She has long hair so I understand that but mine is just below my shoulders so I thought that was a little expensive but they did a good job so it was worth it.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was very easy, our check in time was 12:30 we arrived around noon unloaded our bags to the porter husband parked the car then we proceeded to the long line it was about 12:15 and the line just moved so quickly. First stop is the table to show all of our documents, have hard copies! Covid test, vaccine, passport and cruise docs. Once that’s done off to the line to take pics if needed we did not need to I guess we matched our passports pretty good then off we went…. Maybe took about 20 minutes and we headed up the ramp to our ship! So easy and quick if you are prepared. As soon as you board head to your Munster station and get that 5 minutes out of the way.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The MDR was amazing! We had Erik and Danny as our services we enjoyed our dinner there a couple of nights, for my birthday we had the Steak house and that was amazing we also tried the Italian (free from the casino) and it was ok (I enjoyed the MDR more) we had the buffet one night and I was not happy with that I ended up getting the fish and chips from the seafood shack and it was ok, I found the fish to not have much flavor and be careful I had a few bones in mine. The pizza was a favorite for my daughter she had it daily, it is made to order so you will wait about 5-10 minutes. We tried the Italian for free lunch and that was really good, would do that again! The sea day brunch was also a favorite of ours.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We really enjoyed getting our spiked coffees or shakes and taking them outside that little area is so nice and there was never anyone there, the bar by the coffee shop was also a nice place to hang out (sorry I don’t remember the name) the sangrias from there are amazing. We enjoyed walking on the track in the evening just to see the views, very pretty. The kids enjoyed the golf and goofed around up there on the exercise equipment. They tried to play pool but it didn’t really work out the balls had a mind of their own.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We loved the entertainment, we only watched 1 show the spell bound and it was really good. We loved the Dj on the lido deck and the performers by the coffee shop area.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone was wonderful, can’t say I even knew who my room steward was but my room was always perfect and we had nightly gifts from the casino layer out on our bed. My sister had my room decorated for my birthday and my room steward also left a gift for me. Erik and Danny in the dinning room did an excellent job of remembering us and taking great care of us. Nina in the coffee shop was a favorite, my husband’s name is Nino so they became best friends lol.

Cabin / Stateroom

We had a balcony that connected to the next room (our kids) we opened the divider and had one huge balcony

Ship tip

If you pre-book dinner reservations at a specialty restaurant make sure you confirm when you get on board. We paid and booked weeks in advance for dinner at the steak house for my birthday, decided to go and make sure everything was OK I was told they see a reservation but no table so I had to show them my print out where I had already paid for eight for 6 PM weeks in advance so after they talked to a manager he finally said they can seat me at 7… it was a little upsetting but did not ruin my trip

Ports of call

Mazatlan, Mexico

When we got off the ship we headed to the taxis everybody stands out there with signs so we approached one and said we wanted to go shopping get some tacos and have some margaritas and buy some tequila . We were told that it’ll be $150 for the day for a van we said no we just want to get dropped off and then will find a taxi back. We were told OK and it would be $20 so the whole way there the guy tried to sell us the Vin for the day. When we pulled up to the area that he was going to drop us off we noticed there was no tourists and there was no shops, and one restaurant that was taste testing tequila. At this point we realized he was doing that so we would pay him more to take us somewhere else. With no other taxis around we had no choice but to pay him $20 to take us back to the ship after we told him how displeased we were with him

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

Got off the ship with no plan but the weather was so hot that we just decided to get back on the ship and enjoy the day on board. We have been to this port several times and usually we hire someone to drive us around for the day but decided not to do that this time.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

This is a nice little port. We’ve been here several times so we just got off and walked around. Did some shopping, ate, drank some margaritas.

Long Beach (Los Angeles), California

Just straight to the port and straight home
