Review summary

Only 40 or so miles from Long Beach to Catalina Island but we cruised all night to arrive there at 8AM. Understand the sea conditions didn't allow a disembarkation there but instead of going to Ensenada for extra time we again sailed around all day and night to get to Ensenada at dock at 8AM and leave at 4PM. Could take more than 6 or 8 hours to return to Long Beach but instead spent that night another day and night to return. Burned a lot of fuel to go nowhere and basically have a captive audience.

Cabin / Stateroom

Adequate room size and liked the balcony and view. Glad I brought an extension cord for the CPAP at night and being able to charge more than one phone at a time. One outlet! Really!

Ship tip

Bring an extension cord.

You are able to view the ship’s itinerary and times in port before booking. Limited outlets is normal on a cruise. Ships can’t ground like we can on land. Bring a non surge power strip when you cruise

Appreciate your feedback. It’s already been explained why the ship can’t decide to dock. Sorry you were disappointed.

And they did a phone booking agent who probably did not explain things and just did the bare minimum ‘booking, give money, goodbye’.

I'm going to assume you are new to cruising, since you don't seem to understand how these things work. Cruise ships are not high speed ferries with the sole purpose of taking passengers from Point A to Point B. They are a full immersion experience aboard the ship. Which means that yes, oftentimes, the ships will sail around in circles or zigzag before reaching their next port destination. This is normal. And no, a ship can't just pull in early for a port stop because they feel like it. These things are tightly scheduled and coordinated by the various port authorities.
