Review summary

Carnival is bad at communicating pre-cruise and average once you’re on the boat. Don’t count on watching tv in the stateroom - it’s only like 10 non-sales channels - and the wifi is slow. Prepare to unplug and go with the flow.

Embarkation

2 out of 5
Required physical printed boarding passes which they didn’t say until you arrived. Disorganized with bad signage. Lack of pre-information all around.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
You get what you pay for for the most part, but food was good overall and staff was great.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Few onboard activists especially given we ended up with an extra day at see. Very little information about what a given activity was in the app and most were trying to seek you things.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Musicians onboard were a mix - string trio was out of tune a lot. Stage performers were pretty good.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Staff were great and doing the best they could with what they were given for the most part. Out dated systems and average quality products.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Ship doesn’t look like it’s been updated since the late 80s. It was clean and seemed to be well maintained but was clearly outdated.

Cabin / Stateroom

2 out of 5
The size, comfort and cleanliness were all 5/5 but directly above this cabin must be where every rolling cart in the entire ship passed especially between the hours of 2-5am. Lots of overhead traffic but brutal overnight.

Ship tip

Find a different ship.

Ports of call

Long Beach (Los Angeles), California

4 out of 5

Ensenada, Mexico

3 out of 5
Tourist trap excursions

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Continued bad communication with the express checkout meaning nothing due to how it was executed. More orderly than embarkation.

Sorry this cruise didn’t meet your expectations. It appears that this may be your first cruise. If so, it’s understandable that you chose your cabin poorly. Best way to choose one is; cabins above AND below yours. Actually, if you read ALL the information from Carnival, you would know that you need your boarding pass printed for each member of your party. Sorry you missed this information. Now you know for the next time.

It seems that you didn't do your due diligence before embarking. Not all the cruise lines operates the same.

Why would you want to spend your vacation in the room watching TV?

It’s always important to read all of the requirements needed to board the ship, and to read all documentation placed in your room and to watch the information channel about debarkation. Carnival actually has more TV channels, then some cruise lines, but most people don’t cruise to watch television.
