Review summary

This will most likely be our last cruise. Now that room service has a limited menu and isn’t included it took away half our reasons to go and get a balcony room. The motion sickness canceled out the benefits of having a balcony.

Embarkation

Average. Lines and waiting but nothing too great or horrible.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
My biggest disappointment was the limited room service menu and the fact that everything on the menu was an additional cost. It literally only had 4-5 types of pizza (the same ones you could get for free on lido deck), chicken wings, chicken strips and an apple tart. That’s it. For months I was looking forward to early morning room service of hot cocoa & coffee with bagels so we could enjoy our balcony with when we are up so early before the breakfast starts. That was my biggest disappointment. The restaurant for dinner was great and had new menu items each night, but the buffet & the rest of the ship food was exactly the same every day.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
Another disappointment. No movie screen or movie in the theater, and less than enticing entertainment shows available. Anything that sounded fun cost extra to participate in.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
The open ones were somewhat entertaining, just random and few. They did have live music playing outside the restaurant each night but it was SUPER loud- almost to the point of headache inducing.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Our dining room staff at the restaurant was fantastic, and some random staff were really friendly, but we didn’t even meet our room attendant until the second day and we had spent most of the first day in our room. We only saw him maybe 4-5 times the whole time and he only did our room twice.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
It’s an old ship. Our bathroom had rust on the door/wall. The layout was fine. The ship was clean, just old.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The room was a nice size. We were so glad we got a balcony, but as mentioned before half of the reason of enjoying it with room service wasn’t available.

Ship tip

Take Dramamine, don’t expect it to be much more than a hotel stay with mediocre meals.

Ports of call

Long Beach (Los Angeles), California

3 out of 5
Where we boarded. All was as expected.

Catalina Island, California Did not visit port

The water was too choppy so this visit was canceled by the captain.

Ensenada, Mexico

3 out of 5
Easy to get on and off. Don’t book any excursions through the ship- they are way cheaper once you arrive with the locals.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Pretty smooth and fairly quick

Thanks for your review. I hope our experience on this ship goes better.

They still have free continental breakfast. You just have to call room service the night before to schedule it. They don’t do the door tags anymore.

Sorry to hear you had a bad cruise. Maybe another cruise line would be better for you.

Oops sorry 😞 thanks

Cruising is not the same as previously. It’s interesting that changes to room service will cause you not to cruise again. I haven’t ordered room service over 6-7 times in 20+ cruises.

Sorry you were disappointed. Maybe try another cruise line to see if they have full room service. Sorry the water was so rough that motion sickness was a problem. I hope your enjoyment of cruising returns.
