For many, Alaska is a bucket list cruise. However, once you visit you will realize you want/need to go back again. There is so much to see and so much to experience. One trip is not enough!
Embarkation

Slow but steady.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
We experienced good food and great service in the MDR. The buffets also had a wide variety, there was something for everyone. This trip we did not go to any specialty restaurants with the exception of The Chef’s Table, which was an amazing experience.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
On this cruise we participated in the many trivia games that were offered daily as well as BINGO. We also went to and participated in the 80’s Trivia Party. It was fun!
Entertainment
4 out of 5
The stage shows were good. The other entertainers around the ship in different venues were also very good. We watched all of them at different times on a daily basis.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The service all around the ship was top notch.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The Miracle is a mid sized ship, half the size of the newest ships.
It was easy and convenient to get around the ship, every venue was just a short distance to walk to. The ship was clean and well maintained.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
The bed and linens were cozy. The cabin was clean and the overall size was of the room was adequate for our needs. A balcony is a must have for an Alaskan cruise.
Ship tip
Be patient during lunch time on the Lido. It gets very busy and finding a place to sit can be challenging.
We did an excursion with Dylan’s Tours. The tour included highlights of San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge, Muir Woods and SauSalito.
We also walked around Fisherman’s Wharf and experienced the Trolleys and Street Cars. We spent 3 full days in SF. We also visited Alcatraz which was a separate tour.
Did an excursion with Glacier Wind Charters. We got to see Hump Back Whales feeding and playing. Only disappointment was the rainy/foggy weather. Cannot control that though or the wildlife.
We visited Mendenhall Glacier, AMAZING! This is a must do.
We also experienced Mt. Robert’s Tramway (gondola ride) as well as some local shopping. Try a Duck Fart from the Red Dog Saloon.
We had an excursion planned but ended up not going. It was a nature hike, the weather was not conducive to hiking on trails. We ended up walking around town visiting a variety of shops and learning about the history of Skagway. The Train ride is a good bet, very scenic ad long as it’s not cloudy/foggy. There are also some local hikes that you can do on your own that are low/moderate intensity. Don’t forget to enjoy some fried dough at the Dough Boy.
This is an opportunity to view another glacier from the ship while sailing through an amazing fjord. You can also purchase an excursion to get up close and personal.
Short stay at this port. Have to get off ship asap to really enjoy this port. It is a bit rushed, you have 3 and a half to 4 hours to visit the local sights.
I’m glad you enjoyed your Alaska cruise on the Carnival Miracle. We had the opportunity to visit family that lived there and it truly is larger than life and beautiful country. Thank you for taking the time to share your review.
