I knew Alaska wouldn't be warm, but I wasn't expecting 95% of the trip to be so cold that you couldn't stand being on the deck outside while the ship was moving. I absolutely loved visiting Alaska, but I'll be sticking to warm weather cruises where being on deck is enjoyable!
Embarkation

Our first time cruising out of SF, it was pretty typical, lines moved well
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The MDR food was the norm, mostly good. We visited the steakhouse for the first time on this cruise and it was phenomenal! The buffet was typical, hit or miss. The pizza was fantastic, as usual! Guy's Burgers were great! We were disappointed that this older ship didn't have Cucina Del Capitano.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
I was a little underwhelmed that this older ship didn't have a lot of the activities we've come to expect.

Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
Our cabin was advertised as an obstructed view (lifeboat) with fully-opening French doors, there were no doors, only windows. It wouldn't have made much difference on this chilly Alaska cruise but I was still disappointed that we didn't get what we were told. The cabin needed refurbished badly! Our couch was stained and kind of gross and the storage drawers at the bottom were broken. The coffee table was also broken, putting anything on it that weighed more than a few pounds made the tabletop slide down to the bottom of the pole. Our room steward wasn't the best either- there were French fries under the bed skirt when we first arrived, all the mirrors were dirty and smudged, shower gel on the shower ceiling and the towel racks were coated in a mixture of dust and hairspray.
Ship tip
It's an older, smaller ship. This means less crowds but less of the modern frills you're used to.
We sailed 2 weeks before you. It wasn’t that cold. As for things going on on the ship, seems like all the cruise lines cut back many activities that we looked forward to and are used to doing. They blame Covid, but I think it’s time to get things back to normal.
Glad you enjoyed most of it. It’s always good to bring several layers for Alaska. The ocean water temperature rarely gets above the lower to mid 50s, so it will feel cool / cold on deck when the ship is moving.
