too many smoking designations. Even if someone smokes in the designated spot
you can still smell it all over the ship. they ought to have a smoking chamber
like the airports do.

In Canada there is no smoking allowed in any enclosed public place and recently the capital city of the province of BC extended the prohibition to parks, beaches, vehicles with children in them and anywhere within 7 metres of a non-residential doorway, window or fresh air intake. Many hotels, particularly the prominent chains around the world now require a signature on a pledge not to smoke anywhere in the establishment. Violators are subject to a substantial fine. Cruise ships are simply hotels that float that, in my opinion, need to consider joining this worldwide trend.
P.S. Ironically, after smoking for 48 years it was a 30 day cruise to the South Pacific that made it possible for me to quit - cold turkey.
