Review summary

My husband and I went for a New Years cruise. Was different going with just him and I as we don't do many trips alone. Normally take grandkids or go with a group. So it was more of relaxing cruise for us. new years was great and the eptic celebration of it. I told family and friends we need to all do one together.

buffett needs better food choices. I could cook better. the Italian restaurant was pretty good. Main dinning was very very slow.

didn't realize the hot tub was right outside my balcony when i chose my room, & the casino wa above us. Needs to be more clear when booking a balcony. Would have never chose the room I had and especially for the over $3,000 I paid for the cruise. I paid allot more money for this cruise than many people I talked with. Most I talked with was sailing free or for hardly any money at all. So that was pretty disappointing to know I paid what I did while many went for free or hardly for nothing. The staff need to start removing people's belongings from saved chairs that people are not sitting in for hours.

The free room sounds great, but when you add what is spent in the casino it probably costs more then your room

Thanks for sharing your cruise experience with us. We too have enjoyed just a couple cruise instead of the group/family cruise. I will also fess up that the more you gamble the more offers you receive to get a free room or really low cost room - almost all the offers are for Caribbean and cruises with multiple sea days to maximize casino time...

If it’s a casino rate, you can get the rooms for little to nothing. However, you are often spending more in the casino. I can speak from experience in this. My husband is always in the casino- I won’t say how much he has spent (lost haha) in there. We have a cruise in this ship coming up that we got for “free” (minus taxes/fees). It’s really just an incentive to get him on the ship since they know he will spend lol

Thank you for your review. Other passengers probably had Elite (casino) offers. Those same passengers are not telling you how much they’re spending in the casino to get such offers.

Magic is a great ship and we've never had a issue with the staff. Also, when booking Carnival has a PDF of every ship you can download and see what's around, above and below you. The people who cruised for free really aren't free. They are paying huge amounts in the casino and get 'free' casino cruises. In the long run they are paying more than everyone else.
