Review summary

This was my 26th Carnival Cruise and the worst one I have taken. My first cruise ever was to Bermuda in 1972 with my son. This was to be a special 50-year celebration of that. The embarkation started off spoiling things. The lack of drinks available in the casino put a damper on our time there. We didn’t see birds and flowers on our bus tour and missed the Bobby policemen directing traffic in the cages. Missed the steel bands. Our snorkel tour didn’t take us to a sunken ship because of rough water and instead took us to a ooral reef without much coral and zero colorful fish. All we saw were little white ones. Overall, my dream cruise was very disappointing.

Embarkation

A nightmare. Premium cruisers did not receive priority and they did not adhere to your scheduled boarding time. I fam handicapped and rent a scooter. In NewYork it is brought to the stateroom so I could not use it yet. I recently had knee surgery and cannot stand or walk for long periods of time. We had to stand in line for hours. People were cutting in line with scheduled times far later than ours. I’m the hustle and bustle it’s 1,000cash o while on line. Upon entering the ship I hurt so bad i immediately took a pain bill and got my scooter. However, the extreme pain from this endeavor lasted all week and ruined my trip.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The main. Dining room served the same vegetables at various meals. The food was not as good as usual. The Italian restaurant was delicious. Although we had free drinks in the casino and I tipped extra each time there were not enough staff serving drinks. So free drinks was useless.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Attended the show which was excellent. Went to Bingo but they had no board on the screen to show the numbers that were called. I am hearing impaired and it was hard for me to hear te numbers.

Entertainment

Excellent.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff were excellent but not enough of them. Couldn’t keep our water glass filled.

Disembarkation

As a premium cruiser I was not given priority. I also had an early shuttle scheduled. Had to wait for the second shuttle. Everyone who carried off even one little piece of luggage got priority.

Ccgal6 - surprising, there has always been a line with a sign for persons with disabilities/needing assistance at Carnival embarkations if for no other reason then to get them on board so the embarkation will not be slowed once it starts.

For some reason Carnival Priority boarding for Diamond and Platinum passengers also FTTF since the restart. But Suite guests still have. Of course it is about the only perk they get. We are both Platinum and suite so fortunately for us we still have Prioity embarkation/disembarkation.

Taacman, so not true. I'm disabled, always request a wheelchair and always have to wait 2 to 4 hours for one. I've never experienced priority boarding because of my disability.

Sorry 😢

One other item, the diamond and plated programs are not being honored at this time for any one. Those folks waited in line just like you. I am handicapped as well and knew of the problems before boarding.

If you were in such pain from knee surgery and you know you are handicapped then I believe it would have been in your best interest to have used a wheelchair. You would have boarded first and gotten your scooter and your cruise would have been great.

Pick a good port. Most are in florida. Close and convenient for us. Good luck on next. ..
